If a flu vaccine is sooo effective, why do 40,000 die each year in the U.S. because of the flu?

Very good question.
I have read many post flu season news stories over the years that substantiate this point. Frequently, the article notes how the season's flu vaccination was not particularly helpful because the experts guessed wrong about the season's particular strain.
Personally, I don't waste my time with flu shots -- even though I could receive them free.

My doctor scoffs at me every time i try to make the vaccine connection.
I'm glad it's finally almost gone thank god but I can still feel it a little.
I will NEVER get a flu shot ever again.
I had 2 other vaccines that day as well. Who knows which one caused this.

Stating that because the Flu vaccine is ineffective, says nothing about other vaccinations. Each different disease has different characteristics, and levels of effectiveness. The reason we have the vaccines that we do, MMR and DPT, is because all 6 have a reasonable success rate once you hit about 90 percent vaccination rate. The Flu on the other hand does not have these characteristics.

A serious concern: Alzheimer’s Disesase
Hugh Fudenberg, MD, an immunogeneticist and biologist with nearly 850 papers published in peer review journals, has reported that if an individual had five consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980 (the years studied), his/her chances of getting Alzheimer's Disease is ten times higher than if they had zero, one, or two shots.[vii]
Dr. Boyd Haley, Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky, Lexington has done extensive research in the area of mercury toxicity and the brain. Haley’s research has established a likely connection between mercury toxicity and Alzheimer’s disease. [viii] In a paper published in collaboration with researchers at University of Calgary, Haley stated that “seven of the characteristic markers that we look for to distinguish Alzheimer's disease can be produced in normal brain tissues, or cultures of neurons, by the addition of extremely low levels of mercury.”[ix]
Does this prove that the mercury contained in the influenza shot can be directly linked to Alzheimer’s? No, absolutely not. But further research in this area is critically needed because the absence of proof is not the “proof of absence.”[x]

I have only had the Flu one time and that was when I was cajoled into taking a flu shot.
Of course in the Obama-Nation Swine Flu vaccination will be MANDITORY to avoid being sent to a Quarantine camp in Sunset, Montana.
