Privately, many scientists admit to believing in some sort of designer or god, because the design of the universe seems to rule out random creation, but publicly, most won’t admit it. Same with the UFO phenomenon. Even though a lot of scientists may believe that something worth studying is going on, most won’t go on the record, or publicly say so, because, historically, it’s been career suicide.
I missed your comment. Sorry.
The bottom line for me, is that in order to prove it to someone like me, an interstellar spacecraft has to be produced that has tech way beyond ours. Even a crashed craft doesn't work for me unless it has alloys beyond what we can produce or features that can be brought up operational so that their functions can be determined.
Or, a creature that is way more intelligent than we are. And he better not look like you and me and he better not be wearing heavy makeup.
A dead creature that is submitted for autopsy by an independent group of scientists with a full report submitted for scientific review, and the body kept on ice for further inquiry.
Proof of a new technology that allows “inter-dimensional” travel. Quantum entanglement doesn't work as all that does is teleport information. It's already been established. Einstein called it “spooky action at a distance.”
What goes in, has to come out somewhere else, and it has to come back with proof that it indeed went a distance away.
Proof that the speed of light can in fact be broken and that it can be done with very large masses, not just particles that may have gone tachyonic.
Show me the spacecraft. Show me the alien, show me the technology.
There's all kinds of “what ifs,” hell, science fiction writers live for that.
As they say, “Put up or shut up,” or “Go big or go home.”
Okay, just got off the phone with my pop.
Edgar Mitchell has been into Uri Geller and ESP and spoon bending since he entered the program. He conducted ESP experiments while flying Apollo 14. Shepard was pissed when he found out. The operational word was, “Goofy.”
Gordo saw a UFO while flying F-100s over Germany before he even entered the program. My dad said, “Hell, when you fly jets who doesn’t eventually see a UFO?”
I asked him about the photo that Gordo captured while on a military installation of a disk with three legs (I went and looked at his wiki entry). Dad said, “Well, hell, he was on a military installation.”
He also reminded me that Gemini XI was also recorded as seeing a UFO, but he said he knew exactly what it was. It was the booster of a Russian Proton rocket.
We talked about the slur panels (fairings) that come off when you remove the LEM from the third stage of the Saturn V. As they were following along, Pete said, “Hey! Some thing is following us!” Just then Pete said, “Oh shit! I probably shouldn’t have said that!”
LOL!
Oh, one more thing. I also asked him if any other astronauts believed we were being visited. He laughed and said, “No, just those two.”
There's plenty of forensic and trace evidence. Plenty of credible witness testimony. Pilots, servicemen, doctors, engineers, astronauts, politicians and Presidents have had experiences. In some cases, mass groups of people have seen the same thing. Like in Phoenix, the Hudson River Valley, Gulf Breeze and Belgium. They've buzzed military bases and shut down missile batteries. There was the Battle of L.A. and the days of flights over Washington, D.C. in 1952. There were the ghost rockets over Sweden and Norway. Lots of cases have been verified on radar. There's too much evidence to just say that nothing is going on. It's obvious that something strange is going on, even if it's not obvious what it is, or who is behind it.
It's also been proven that, alongside years of study, even after they officially closed Blue Book, the government spent time and money to infiltrate UFO groups and sow disinformation. Why bother, if there's nothing to it?
Plus, like Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I love your Arthur C. Clarke quote.
I won’t argue your points. Lots of weird stuff happens all the time. Some of it later explained, some of it never explained.
But I can’t just add all of that up and say, “extraterrestrial visitors.” I want to see ET’s finger glow and whistle.
One of the reasons I liked that Colm Kelleher book so much, is that they had an isolated setup and scientific study for so long. People had speculated for years on what Bigelow's team was doing at that ranch, and then Colm publishes a book about it, a piece of land the local indians considered cursed, relating all this crazy crap that defied their best efforts to catch it on film or capture it, and then the activity just tapered off. It's a damn good read, whether or not you subscribe to all the family's stories before the NIDS research team took over.
Fascinating insight. Thanks!
“The more I learn the less I actually know.”
C’est la Vie.
Peace, FRiend.
“Fascinating insight. Thanks!”
You’re welcome.
But you still ought to read “Leap of Faith” (Cooper’s autobio) to get the real picture. It would throw the “lunar module” theory out the window. Your dad must be a gem and a treasure — very much like my own pop! ;^)
“But you still ought to read Leap of Faith (Coopers autobio) to get the real picture. It would throw the lunar module theory out the window. Your dad must be a gem and a treasure very much like my own pop! ;^)”
I would very much like to read it.
My pop gave me a copy of Michael Collin’s book, “Carrying the Fire” last August when I took my boys to see him. He signed it for me. It’s one of the first books written out of the program and my dad says it’s the best. Mike had no axes to grind like so many of the others. I’ve got a lot of reading to do. :) He hasn’t yet written a book, but he’s thinking about it.
You’re right. He is a treasure. He turns 80 next Monday. Never saw that coming. I figured he would have keeled over 10 years ago with all that hell-raisin’ he did.
Nothing wrong with studying UFOs. But, if you start out studying UFOs with the view to proving that we are being visited by extra terrestials you are already too biased to conduct an accurate study.
Thanks, and the same to you.
Very good point. I always think the same thing when I hear the “can’t keep it secret stuff. The military is able to keep top secret airplanes from the public for decades.
The foo fighters are a real part of WWII history. There is a good video called ancient ufos you can look up on the web. It’s by the history channel, its a very good video and it brings to light possible ufo phenomenon from the past.
True, but what I was talking about is the fact that whenever there is a discussion about UFOs many people have never heard of the foo fighters and some people even discount them altogether, which is silly because too many pilots on both sides(including in the Pacific)saw them. Thanks for the info.
You stated: “Until you realize that Einstein showed (with math even) that one cannot go faster than the speed of light, then there is no point in talking to you.”
“As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.” Albert Einstein
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.” Albert Einstein
Even Einstein knew not to put everything in the hands of science or math.
Other thoughts from scientists & the like:
“In my mind, there is no question that they’re out there. My Career is well established. My texts books are required reading in all the major capitals on planet earth. If you want to become a physist to learn about the unified feild therory-you read my books. Therefore, I’m in a position to say: Yes- Most likely they’re out their, perhaps even visted, perhaps on our moon. - ABC News Quote —
— Professor Michio Kaku Author of Theoretical Physics UNY
“When the long awaited solution to the UFO problem comes, I believe that it will prove to be not merely the next small step in the march of science, but a mighty and totally unexpected quantum leap.” “We had a job to do, whether right or wrong, to keep the public from getting excited”
—Dr.J Allen Hynek, Director US Air Force´s project Blue Book as a scientific consultant, astronomer, investigator and analysis.
“Of course it is possible that UFO’s really do contain aliens as many people believe, and the Government is hushing it up.”
—Professor Stephen Hawking
“Extraterrestrial contact is a real phenomenon. The Vatican is receiving much information about extraterrestrials and their contacts with humans from its Nuncios (embassies) in various countries, such as Mexico, Chile and Venezuela.”
— Monsignor Corrado Balducci As stated 5 different times on Italian TV** (Vatican theologian insider close to the Pope,Monsignor Balducci said that he is on a Vatican commission looking into extraterrestrial encounters, and how to cope with the emerging general realization of extraterrestrial contact.)
“We must insist upon full access to disks recovered. For instance, in the La case the Army grabbed it and would not let us have it for cursory examination.”
—J Edgar Hoover
To say that there is nothing going on is to say “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proofs.
I enjoy this stuff :)
Excellent post. I enjoy it too.
