Just imagine the mass of the planet if nobody were to die, why we’d go out of orbit or something...

Nonsense of course. Even a basic biobot like a "respirocyte", which is nothing more than theoretical, is simply the equivalent of an empty or full tank.
Cells are a bit more complex than that.
A good bit.

1) Scientist discovers the secret of immortality and makes himself immortal.
2) Scientist ticks some freak off
3) That freak kidnaps the scientist and puts him in a dungeon with just enough food/water to keep the scientist alive, but no way for the scientist to kill himself.
Basically if we develop immortality the more evil among us could put together some pretty good approximations of hell.
4) Maybe the reason no one believable ever comes out with hard evidence regarding UFOs is that those advanced beings can keep tattletales alive in prison forever:

You got it. Some years ago I read article by an actuary about immortality. Naw. Health aside, in 500 years an accident gets you.

Nanotechnology ain't gonna do you any good if you live in a hurricane zone and get plonked with flying debris, or in a flood zone and you drown, or if you get blown to bits by a terrorist bomb somewhere...
