Hello Doc.

A fellow HM3, James R. Layton, from a nearby community was honored last week with full military honors. While serving with a USMC unit in Afghanistan, the unit came under fire from muzzies. Petty Officer Layton was giving aid to a wounded Marine Lt. at the time of his death along with three Marines.

This incident was broadcast heavily concerning their call for air support and it finally arrived hours too late.

I had the honor of standing along the route with fellow citizens as PO3 Layton was transported under CHP(California Highway Patrol), local police, fire and Ambulance Company escort from our local airport to the funeral home a few miles up the road.
