Max Verstappen was not allowed to drive a Mercedes-AMG GT in Portugal during his holiday. The staff of the car rental firm explained he was too young to drive a car that can do 195 mph.
https://www.autoevolution.com/news/car-rental-firm-denies-max-verstappen-a-mercedes-amg-gt-because-the-car-is-too-fast-226603.html
The rental company made a mistake! If Max damaged the Mercedes can you image how much money someone would pay for the Mercedes AMG Max destroyed? Can you image the promotional value of the Headline Max destroys AMG Mercedes Again!
LOL!!! OOO000ooo sh!t...
Max to the rental agent “pfft... only 195? I can drive that in my sleep! Got a car that’ll do over 220?”
We’ve lost another great one.

thx, 56 just damn...
Gil de Ferran, the 2003 Indianapolis 500 winner and holder of the closed-course land speed record, died Friday while racing with his son at The Concourse Club in Florida, multiple former colleagues confirmed to The Associated Press. He was 56.
Fellow Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan said de Ferran was with his son, Luke, at the private course in Opa-Locka, Florida, when he pulled over and said he wasn’t feeling well. Kanaan said de Ferran apparently suffered a heart attack and could not be revived.
When de Ferran won the 2003 Indy 500 for Roger Penske, it was the third-consecutive win in the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for Penske, who has now amassed a record 19 victories in the iconic Memorial Day weekend race.
“We are terribly saddened to hear about today’s tragic passing of Gil de Ferran. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Angela, Anna, Luke and the entire
de Ferran family,” Roger Penske said in a statement. “Gil defined class as a driver and as a gentleman. As an IndyCar Champion and an Indianapolis 500 winner, Gil accomplished so much during his career, both on and off the track.
Yes, sad news. So young….
RIP Gil...
.
A fine Gentleman Driver.
.
He replaced John Andretti
at Jim Halls’ team.
Thanks for this.
The article is sketchy on information...
Apparently he had a heart attack:
RIP.
Sad, far too young- but he was where he loved to be and doing what he loved-
amen
WOW !!! RIP SIR, went out doing what He Loved.
I know this is an F1 thread, but many of us follow other forms of racing, too.
This one was a true legend:

dude, that’s what this thread is for... any racing news is OK, so thx
RIP
As a kid, I recall Yarborough racing, way back when stock car racing involved actual stock cars. A great who raced when the sport was young, and less of a biz. RIP
