To think that the driver’s feet are that far forward, bad news in case of an accident.

IMSA forced Porsche to redesign the 956 into the 962 for this issue.

Pat Clancy’s unique 6 wheeled Indy race car, the only 6 wheeler to ever race at Indy

In 1948, at the Indianapolis 500, a six-wheeled car built by Pat Clancy, and driven by Billy DeVore powered its way to 12th position overall. The four rear wheels of the car were driven by two axles connected by a universal joint. The six-wheel Indy car only lasted one race, in 1949 it was converted back to a conventional 4-wheel racer. It remains the only six-wheel car to ever race at the Indianapolis 500

Same thought here. Must have been a b*tch in the turns.

Hope Alonso is a winner at Le Mans!

compliments of Lockbox

After a lung transplant, the former racing driver and operator Niki Lauda is in the intensive care unit of the AKH. The operation was successful and he will not be able to leave the hospital until several weeks later.

Wow that kinda came out of nowhere didn’t it ? I’m not having any success in the translation of the “vunder language” at the Link.

Prayers done for a safe, uncomplicated recovery.

Is this somehow related to the big crash/fire decades ago?

Thank You for that info. The only 6 wheeler I knew of was the Tyrrell P34.

If i go POOF here without being canned, I’ll be busy reading this Thread from start to finish.

The PROFESSIONAL RACE FLAG MARSHAL SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN LEGALLY DISPLAY FLAGS AT THE START/FINISH LINE.

Course Workers for the corners.

All the “celeb’s” need to be limited to Spectaters.

If a Driver wants to impress, payback or coddle a celeb then the Driver needs to hand off the Safety Gear and the keys to that Driver’s car.

That will STOP this BS !!!!

WGI wins best NASCAR track honor again

The Watkins Glen International racetrack has -- for the third straight year -- been voted the best NASCAR Track in a USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice contest. The designation comes on the track's NASCAR weekend. Twenty tracks were nominated, with balloting ending July 23. Said State Senator Tom O'Mara and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano in a joint statement: "It's a well-deserved national honor for track officials and staff, drivers and, most of all, the fans who help make The Glen one of the renowned venues in all of sports."
