SESAME CHICKEN
Ingredients
3 whole boneless chicken breasts
Marinade
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 tablespoon cooking wine or dry sherry
3 drops sesame oil
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Sauce
1/2 cup water
1 cup chicken broth
1/8-1/4 cup white vinegar or rice wine vinegar (depending
on how sweet you want the sauce)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup sugar (we use 1/2 cup sugar but the orginal recipe called for 1 cup)
2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon chili paste (or more)
1 garlic clove (minced)
Frying
peanut oil (3 1/2-4 cups)
Serving
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
Directions
1. Cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes. Mix the marinade
ingredients (the first 9 ingredients listed) and marinate
the chicken for 20 minutes.
2. To prepare the sauce:.
3. Mix together all of the sauce ingredients. Pour them
into a small pot and bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
Turn the heat down to low and keep warm
while you are deep-frying the chicken.
4. To deep-fry the chicken:.
5. Add the marinated chicken pieces a few at a time,(some
recipes call for dredging the marinated chicken pieces
in flour first) and deep-fry until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and then place chicken in
warm oven (130 degrees) while you continue frying.
Repeat with the remainder of the chicken. Just before
you are finished deep-frying, bring the sauce back up to a boil.
6.Place the chicken on a large platter and pour the sauce
over. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve the Sesame Chicken with rice.

“1 cup sugar (we use 1/2 cup sugar but the orginal recipe called for 1 cup)”
Good thinking. Most of these sauces are too sweet, thus attenuating the flavor.
I use less sugar, also. I also use a little more sesame oil. “Candy Chicken” - not in my book.

Thanks jaycee, insomnia is the worst! I hope the drug they tried works. Auntie and I agreed I’d call her Saturday night and see how she’s doing...thanks for caring...TCP
Prayers being offered for Auntie Mickey, TCP.
Please Father, give Auntie Mickey relieve from pain so she can get the rest she needs for complete healing. Please heal her inflamed occipital nerve. Guide her doctors is their treatment. In Jesus Name. Amen
Thanks so much. You do the same!
Thanks for the prayers. Auntie thinks without sleep, a body can’t heal very fast. She had always been a sound sleeper before this pain problem set in this spring. Now she gets a couple hours of sleep. Her poor body is all messed up from this nerve thing and from not sleeping too. I will see her the first week of Oct. when I stay there for a week. At least they figured out the base problem. That took a long time and the right ER doctor to know what the trouble was. Many thanks for all the prayers, TCP
TY, Jaycee.
