How about a link to something relevant to post #1 re: SSNs?
Sorry, I just grabbed the text link that the author put at the top of the page and made it clickable.
Only then did I click on it. I couldn't find the ssn story either.
No good deed goes unpunished!

Even if it was the 70’s or 80’s, whenever he got his ssn- he was required to show a birth certificate.
He needed an ssn and birth certificate to get his US passport to travel to Pakistan in 1981.
Presumably his assigned ssn, whenever he obtained it, would be coded based on place of birth shown in his birth certificate. Can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be

Perhaps it was NOT a US passport?

There you go, you “birther”! :-)
As we can see, the Prez’ SSN is another key to deciphering his secretive personal identity and background.

I’ve been around as long as you and don’t see much change. There have always been extreme views and tinfoil hats here, just as there are extreme views and tinfoil hats on Democrat Underground and other left wing sites.

I had to get a SSN in 1962 when I was in the fourth grade. Can’t remember why. I still have the card I signed not too long after I learned how to write cursive!

I miss the old FreeRepublic more and more every day. Ahhh...yes...nothing better than re-living the Clinton Body Count days. Those were the days before silly conspiracy theories.

"I lurked for over a year without ever signing up. I think the tone has changed in that brief time. I can only imagine what it's like for the long-timers."
The tone has changed several times in the time I've been here (and lurked before that). It'll change again. But there will always be cranks and kooks posting conspiracy theories, here and elsewhere.
In this case, the sad thing is that the b.c. issue has at its root some very legitimate questions, but it has been subsumed by nuts, with their queen being this inept and shrill Taitz creature and with Phil Berg as prince consort.
We learned nothing from the Vince Foster affair. Again: legitimate questions at its root, but the topic got marginalized pretty quickly. And there was never the sort of kookery around Foster that surrounds the b.c. affair. Nor was there kookery surrounding ChinaGate, but that incredible treason fizzled out because we allowed the likes of Larry Klayman to represent us and, worse, define us.
The analogies to the 9/11 Truthers and 2000's barking-moonbat hanging-chad folks who claimed Bush stole the election are all too apt. We damage our cause by allowing the likes of Taitz to define us. Folks like Coulter and Limbaugh and Malkin have declared the topic to be radioactive, contaminating all who touch it. They're right.
