Ha! I should of thought of that! Instead, I got stuck for $1,200 a month alimony for 8 years. I am in a celebratory mood this week.... only 5 more years to go! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t begrudge doing the alimony bit but when its over, its over.
Divorce sucks pure and simple, I stuck in my marriage (faithfully) for 21 years until I had had enough.By the time it was over we were more like college roommates than husband and wife. We bickered and argued over EVERYTHING. New day, pick a fight topic.
I was raised Roman Catholic and dreaded the idea of divorce for a long time. But, alas, I couldn’t imagine myself living with my spouse for the rest of my life under those conditions.
Even now she still can be a pain in the arse but I could never imagine doing anything harmful or wishing ill will on my ex.
Choose your mate wisely and make sure the child rearing philosophies are in tangent. Otherwise, you are courting rough waves in the relationship as the children grow.
My two cents,
MFO
I remember that the stats were cooked. The killers were rarely husbands but often boyfriends (IMO the reason the press sensationalized a husband doing the killing). There were some threads on FR at the time about it.
don’t forget to add food in there someplace....you need your strength..LOL
That is so sick, but funny as hel*.
Yes I did, I shot her
You know I caught her messin' round, messin' round town
Uh-yes I did, I shot her
You know, I caught my old lady messin' around town
And I gave her the gun,
I SHOT HER!
Woo Ah...Hey Joe, alright Shot her one more time again, baby
yeah Ah, dig it Ah Ah, ... Ooo, alright
Jimi Hendrix
Because they deserve it?

"I kid, I kid!"
Someday there will be a law against that sort of thing. It’s total bullshit. I don’t know how you go on. You are stronger than I. It would break me. I would be consumed with hate and revenge. Satan would own me easily.
Been there - done that.
The only reason I didn’t “snap” is the thought that she would eventually end up with the boys and my estate.
Now I just joke about it. “I used to be married. But I’m feeling much better now!” ;^)
But that is so common it is almost the norm. These days, a man who marries without preparing himself for that outcome is a fool.
As for the "why husbands kill their wives" question, my only contribution is to say that some women don't know how dangerous it is to keep pushing a furious man, and some men don't know when they should walk away, cool down, check into a hotel, and call a divorce attorney in the morning. For either party, when the anger reaches a certain level, (1) STOP TALKING and (2) WALK AWAY.
Wow, there is SO MUCH MISANDRY in this article it drips from every paragraph.
The first example she uses of a ‘recent’ murder is the O.J. Simpson trial. Recent? That happened in 1994 - 15 years ago!
{and OJ was officially ‘not guilty’...)
The next example used, Scott Peterson from 2002 - 7 years ago!
At least with the Tom Richardson case, she is up to an example from 2006 - only 3 years ago.
The Tara Grant example is reasonably current - 2007 - 2 years old.
Then she uses 2 Escanaba cases: One from 1988 - 21 years ago;
and another one that is 70 year old that is actually a suicide. A SUICIDE !!!
The author chose to only focus on men commiting this horrible act. Yet there are plenty of women who seek to murder their former spouse.
I was just reading the story of a lady who was arrested for pouring liter fluid in the house of her former husband while he and three others slept. Thank goodness she failed in her attempt.
How strong can that “often” be when eighty percent of all divorces are initiated by the wife?
could that be because the men are the ones behaving badly and the women are the ones who initiate the divorce because they don’t want to take the crap anymore?
I mean, why would the men want a divorce when they have a little woman sitting at home that they use as a door mat?
Simply because your stat says 75% of women initiate divorce doesn't imply that it is their fault.
You don't need “legal” recourse. Some people that are still rational get counceling and stay together.
All the money in the world won't buy you happiness or ease the emotional pain of a divorce. Yes, a divorce does bring about a “death” but not in the blind way you are inferring.
I do detect some sarcastic bitterness too.
I suppose that is a reasonable explaination if ones chief concern is denying the obvious.
I mean, why would the men want a divorce when they have a little woman sitting at home that they use as a door mat?
Other than the fact that doormats just aren't that fun? How about losing over half of all the assets he's worked for to someone who thinks they've fulfilled all their family obligations by breathing.
How do you expect to maintain any credibity at all after making such a statement?
You: How do you expect to maintain any credibity at all after making such a statement?
Me: I was actually thinking that about YOU.
No sources to back it up and as I mentioned before your bitterness through sarcasm is showing in an unbecoming way.
You: I am almost fifty years old, and I've yet to meet even one woman who gave up anything for anyone.
Me: Apparently you don't get around much. Many women, including the latest high profile figure, Gov. Mark Sanford has no issue having an affair and then trying to use the Bible to justify it.
http://www.thestate.com/local/story/842469.html
That affair was going on for EIGHT years and he was told by his wife in no uncertain terms to END IT. The latest escape from his wife included lying to his staff that he was on a trip on the Appalachian mountains after it was quietly agreed they would separate. What did ole Mark do on the week of Father's Day? Lied to his wife, sons and staff and made a bee-line to his babe in Argentina. He continues to lie about the length of the affair - even his wife admitted she knew about it and it wasn't the first time ... .
This is a typical headline. Here's a guy seeking some fun with a younger woman. It's very common. His wife should divorce him.
Yes, his wife was faithful and raised good sons. She put herself aside for what? to be tossed aside for this whore in Argentina. Of course he REFUSES to RESIGN. That makes sense since is not an honorable man. It happens allot.
http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/06/24/youdecide_sanford_resign/
He didn't care. Taxpayers paid for his trips ... the only reason he is sorry is that he got caught AGAIN by his wife and embarrassed.
“I've heard of this concept ‘in theory’ for my entire life, but never met even a single specimen ‘in the wild.’ “
You don't have to “meet a single specimen” - “in the wild” (whatever that means). All you have to do is pick up a paper and read about it. It's quite common.
IU can take you seriously when you state that women aren't dumped by MEN for “trophy wives” when they believe they have become successful.
OH really? I didn’t know that - I thought the stats were from the police records?
