Sound out your last name having added hers and a hyphen to it. See if you like it.
* Not for her. To have your last name changed should you get a “life partner”.
Does she love you?
If you do love each other and can agree to never let politics get in between you two, go for it. Be very up front with her about how deep your conservatism is and how much you despise liberalism. See how she responds.
You’re just at the start of the adventure. 10 years from now, when both of you are overweight, pressured by work, kids, etc... - you two better have a lot in common to keep the flames alive, or yr. relationship will be hell.
Deal with it! I’ve been married to one for almost 36 years.
Ask her one simple question: “would you abort my child?”
Don’t fall for that “opposites attract” crap.
Walk away now. You will end up hating each other in the end.
PRENUP
I can’t imagine life with someone who lacks reasoning and logic skills after being happily married to my wonderful conservative spouse!
I can’t imagine getting into an disagreement with someone who doesn’t have these skills, I get a headache just thinking about it.
Would you fall for with BO in a pretty package?
big heart = empty head
I fixed a NOW campus president and a woman that ran a “family planning” clinic, women can change.
You need to tell us more about her and her sincerity and fundamental character, is she a good and honest listener?
Most single woman are liberal. Talk sense into her, bring her around to the real world.
I did this. Here’s what its like. Slam your head in a door many many times. Prepare for American politics in microcosm. You get to be the disrespected red state, she gets to be New York times. The sex will be incredible, just DO NOT get her pregnant.
My daughter finally put it to me perfectly and dropped my jaw. She said, In philosophy your most basic beliefs come first, your metaphysics and epistimology, etc. These lead straight to your ethics. Your Politics arise from there.
Kid said *her politics clearly tell you her most basic values*. But you wouldnt listen.
good luck,, im going to take an aspirin, or have a beer.
My ex-husband was (probably still is) liberal. It was fun at first - opposites attract, and all that - but eventually it wasn’t. :) Can you convert her?
Depends what kind of liberal. As long as they aren’t full of hate, you have a chance. Some people are liberal because it’s how they were raised, but tend to be somewhat open-minded. I’ll give you a few issues and classify the responses as “MIGHT WORK” and “RUN.” All responses are liberal and not my views, but I’m illustrating a dividing line in liberalism:
Abortion:
MIGHT WORK: “I am uncomfortable with abortion, but I’ve known women who have had unplanned pregnancies and I feel even more uncomfortable forcing them to go to term. It’s a tough issue, though.”
RUN: “If these so called pro-lifers really cared about children, they would work to help children after they are born.”
Global warming:
MIGHT WORK: “I’ve read some scientific articles on global warming and some experts say we might have a serious problem. The government should spend money on research for cleaner fuels.”
RUN: “I am constantly worrying about my carbon footprint. This global warming is going to kill us all and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot or being paid by the oild companies.”
Former president George W. Bush:
MIGHT WORK “I don’t think we needed to have that war in Iraq. Maybe the intelligence reports were bad, but it seems the president should be on top of those things. I also think he spent too much and I didn’t favor some of his environmental policies. But I like the work he did on AIDS in Africa and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.”
RUN: (Long list of swear words at the mention of his name.)
You get the idea.
go for it!
