I looked at it last about 4 years ago. I will look again. Have used Autodesk products for many years.
The other issue was a publishing program. I have used Scribus but have not yet figured out how to import data from a database styled and formated, like I do in Quark. I know it can be scripted in Python, but I have not had the time to master the programming skils for Python (have spent some hours trying to understand the language, but am not there yet).
Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 LTS on my work laptop and it's never let me down!
I upgraded my desktop video card on my home PC though to an Nvidia 8500 GS and it just wouldn't "cooperate" with Ubuntu. It was fairly new when I bought it so there might be better supported drivers for it now. I ran out of time so I put Debian 4.0 Etch on it and that's what I'm using now.
The thing I've always liked about Linux systems is that people can use them for small, "personal" applications such as e-mail and web browsing... or create custom network software to perform some function that nothing else quite performs. :-) It's like a big tool box. :-)

I used Qcad to design the deck around my pool and for the layout of my sprinkler system. simple stuff but from what I understand it does much of the high end stuff too.
