Tippu Tip or Tib (1837 - June 14, 1905), real name Hamed bin Mohammed bin Juma bin Mohammed bin Rajab bin Mohammed bin Said el Murgebi de solo, was a Swahili-Zanzibari trader, notorious slaver, plantation owner and governor. Working for a succession of sultans of Zanzibar, he led many trading expeditions into east-central Africa, sometimes involving slave trade and ivory. He constructed profitable trading posts that reached deep into Central Africa.
He built himself a trading empire that he then translated into clove plantations on Zanzibar. Abdul Sheriff reports that when he left for his twelve years of “empire building” on the mainland, he had no plantations of his own. However, by 1895 he had acquired “seven shambas [plantations] and 10,000 slaves.” (Sheriff, 108)

Anyone who writes anything—such as this piece from American Thinker—giving advice to Obama about how he might do something beneficial for America is wasting ink. Obama is interested only in destroying America. Obama is a hater.
Obama is a liar, a crook, a tyrant, and most of all, a murderer. He hates even little babies enough to fight, and fight, and fight, to make sure that little babies continue to die in dirty linen closets. That is a demonic kind of hate.
I am beginning to hear rumblings from others who seem to understand—Obama is a hater. Obama hates America.

I knew the article was pointing out how defective a spokesman for the problems of slavery Obama actually was, but I still reject the initial proposition the people are still suffering from slavery effects as a given. At least I read his introductory statement as a given. You are saying that even the intro was tongue-in-cheek. I concede you may have a point and I went off on a pointless rant. Guess it was time for bed.

Throughout the Atlantic slave trade period the coastal trading facilities were controlled by local black African pagan chiefs and kings.
Muslim slavers were pretty well limited to the Sudan and Sahel, far inland from the jungled coast. Muslims probably sold slaves to the coastal chiefs for resale to whites, but they seldom came into direct contact with the white slavers.
Anyway, the vast majority of Muslim slave-trading went across the Sahara or up the east coast by ship. The Sahara route, BTW, had much higher death rates than the Atlantic route.
False. The Brits invaded and destroyed the Mahdi Army precisely to stop them slaving. The Brits had stopped slaving anywhere they could for almost 100 years by this point. The idea that Vicky would give someone a license to trade in slaves in 1899 is beyond absurd.
This engraving entitled Tipo [sic] Tib's Fresh Captives Being Sent Into Bondage – Witnessed by Stanley records part of Henry Morton Stanley's journeys through Africa. Stanley also hired porters from Tippu Tib, a man considered the king of Zanzibar Slave Traders.
What’s your point? Tippu Tib was a bad dude. No connection whatsoever, as far as I know, between him and any of Obama’s ancestors.
BTW, according to your map, the relief expedition arrived at the mouth of the Congo in March of 1887 and departed from Zanzibar in February of 1887. Damn good time for a crossing of Africa.
And it should not be forgotten that Swahili is not an African language at all; it is a language created by Arab slavers, enslavers of Africans and traffickers in black African suffering and misery to cut across the lines of actual black African languages.
