There may be some random Nurse Healer recipes that I find, but the Yahoo group that i am in now, lists the titles and the rest of the post cannot be found.

Same problem as the Way Back Machine site, the titles are there, no posts found.

I have read about the Ramps, but they do not grow here.

It would be fun to live where there were wild foods, as I had to buy seeds for the few that I could grow here.

LOL, it was worth it, as it confuses people to see weeds growing lushly and well tended in a pot.

They look all confused and then blurt out “You are aware that this is a weed?”

“Yes, I ordered the seeds for them?” and they start thinking about what size straight jacket will fit you, for surely you will need it soon.

Skillet Biscuits

Inspired by my sister-in-law, Dale’s, story about her grandmother frying biscuits on the stovetop.

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup dry milk
3/4 water

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in the shortening. Make a well in center and add water a little at a time. Knead in the bowl for about half a minute. Lightly grease and preheat skillet to about medium heat. Pinch off dough in balls about the size of a marshmallow. Form into flat disks and fry biscuits for about 5-7 minutes per side. Don’t make the biscuits too big or they will burn on the outside before they are done on the inside.

Makes about a dozen.

3 notable quakes break along California coast
April 3rd, 2009, 6:02 pm · posted by Gary Robbins, O.C. Register science writer-editor

Three earthquakes measuring at least 3.0 or higher broke in California today, between the central and northern regions of the stations, the U.S. Geological Survey says. The first quake — measuring 3.8 in magnitude — came at 11:20 a.m., occurred 9.9 miles beneath the seafloor, 26 miles west of Ferndale, in northern California, seismologists say. That was followed at 12:21 p.m. by a 3.0 quake north of the Bay area, in the Geysers region, the most seismically active part of the state for months. The shaker started on 1.4 miles beneath the surface. Then at 3:01 p.m. , there was a 3.2 quake eight miles east of Cambria, in central California.

Caltech creates video of recent quake spreading to O.C.

CLICK IMAGE to go to Caltech’s ‘ShakeMovie’

Scientists at the California Institute of Technology regularly create animations of the manner in which seismic waves spread across a region. This image shows how seismic energy from a 4.0 earthquake on March 26th in the Bombay Beach area of the Salton Sea, near the southern end of the San Andreas fault, radiated outward, moving all the way to Orange County. The quake — which was not widely felt here — was part of a recent swarm that seems to be quieting down. The low-level warm in the Chino Hills, near Yorba Linda, continues.

Yogurt protects against Vaginal Infection

Yoghurt or yogurt, less commonly curd, yoghourt or yogourt is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk.

How is it made?

It can be made by scalding milk, cooling it to just above body temperature, and then adding a small amount of previously made yoghurt (for example, store-bought, plain, live-culture yoghurt). The mixture is kept at the warm temperature for several hours, during which fermentation (proliferation of the bacteria that were in the previously made yogurt) causes it to become yoghurt

Vaginal Infection

Eating Yogurt on a daily basis can definitely ward of vaginal infection from happening but if it’s already there apply thin layer of plain yogurt which has good bacteria with the help of a spatula, leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. Do it for a week till your pH balance comes to normal.

Lactose-intolerant People can enjoy yoghurt without ill effects

Yoghurt has nutritional benefits beyond those of milk: people who are moderately lactose-intolerant can enjoy yoghurt without ill effects, because the lactose in the milk precursor is converted to lactic acid by the bacterial culture. The reduction of lactose bypasses the affected individuals’ need to process the milk sugar themselves.

Fights Cancer

Yoghurt helps to fight cancer if consumed on a regular basis.

Aids Digestion

Yogurt aids digest when as the enzymes in it helps with the digestion. You can also consume it as a cool drink by mixing 1 tbsp yogurt with a glass of water, whisk it so that it is lump free.

Relives Food Poisoning

Sometimes when we have food poisoning having yogurt helps with the stomach ache. But do rush to the doctor immediately if you have no relief with it.

Acidity

Yogurt is also a good remedy for acidity. Have it as a drink.

High in potassium, vitamin B12 and calcium

Yogurt is high in potassium, vitamin B12 and calcium therefore its good for the bones as well as teeth. But have the skim Yogurt as it has fats in it too.

Yogurt Smoothie

Plain yogurt doesn’t set in your palate don’t worry, you can jazz it up by making a smoothie by adding yogurt and your favorite fruit and relish it with joy.

Home Remedies for Dry skin

Skin is called dry skin when the skin lacks hydration or is incapable of maintaining hydration. Sometimes it’s hormonal or due to the weather or the lack of moisture in the air like in winter season. And the basic rule still stands no matter which skin type you are always apply moisturizer and sunscreen irrespective of the weather.

Main Drawback of Dry Skin

The main problem with dry skin is not acne and pimples but the discoloration of the skin. If the skin is not hydrated then there is a dry patch in that area and generally leads to dark pigmentation of the skin.

Wrinkles

Dry skin usually leads to more wrinkles than any other skin type as we age. So moisturizing the body is very essential to maintain a youthful skin.

Here are some home remedies that you can find right in your kitchen.

Body Wash : Use Spit green gram flour if it is not available in stores buy some split green grams and grind it, another alternative is Chickpea flour (besan) in it your can mix milk and use as a body wash and in the end for the smell you can add few drops of aromatic oil such as sandalwood oil or lavender oil, this will ward off the smell of the flour and you will come out smelling fresh and if you want to use flour. Don’t use soap instead use a body wash specially for dry skin with has natural moisturizer.

Oil Massage : Weekly once treat yourself to a oil massage to keep your skin well hydrated and a healthy glow. You can use oil such as coconut oil, olive oil or sesame oil and add few drops of lemon juice and glycerin in it and massage yourself.

For Wrinkles : Apply a face pack containing olive oil, honey and egg yolk and apply for 20 minutes on your face and neck next apply the egg white with a drop of lavender oil for 10 minutes. Egg white should not be applied for more than 10-15 minutes. Egg white helps to firm the skin and eventually reduce wrinkles.

Face packs for dry skin

1. Take lukewarm olive oil or coconut oil and add a vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin e capsules in the oil and apply it in your face and neck for 10 minutes. Then take a warm towel steam i.e place it on your face for about 5-7 minutes and wash your face with cold water. This pack not only hydrates the skin but also gives a healthy glow to the skin.

2. Full Cream (malai), honey and glycerin with few drops of lemon juice is great for dry skin can be applied for an hour or for a minimum of 20 minutes. When washing the face it will be greasy so instead of soap use wheat flour and use it like a scrub on the wet face this way not only your face is well hydrated but also the dirt and blackheads and whiteheads are removed.

3. Watermelon and grape juice is also great to moisturize the skin and can be applied with the help of cotton on face and neck this besides hydrating the skin also is loaded with vitamin c which gives a healthy glow.

4. Curd, honey with lemon juice is another great face pack which can be applied for over an hour or for a minimum of 20 minutes.
5. Lukewarm Honey on its own can be applied and be left for over an hour or for a minimum of 20 minutes.

Wow! Didn't even know they manufactured those any more. It's just like Gram's except hers was a sickly looking pea green. Your purchase certainly looks a lot safer.

Just love my wood cook stove but sympathize with your wife as I love windows even more. Would live in a glass house if it was practical. Guess that relates directly to my love of the out of doors. In my younger days, if hubby sensed I was becoming depressed during the dreary winter months, he always planned a jaunt on snowshoes into the woods. Nothing like the quiet, pristine surroundings of a snow covered forest to make you realize just how great the world around us is. With a package of frank forts, some rolls and a thermos of coffee life was great. Can't do that now as we have to have a fire permit. More rules and regulations.

FBI InfraGard warns of a crescendo of public concern about Obama’s eligibility
by DefendUSx April 05, 2009 11:14
Tasked by the FBI to provide “informational analysis” on conditions which could be construed as potentially harmful to civil order and national security, InfraGard, of the FBI’s National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), issued an unclassified Protective Intelligence Communication report in March 2009 regarding the “crescendo” of public concern about Obama’s presidential eligibility.

Authored by Dr. Lyle J. Rapacki, Protective Intelligence Specialist and Agent, the report summarizes the substance of legal challenges to Obama on the question of his constitutional eligibility and concludes that if it “should be discovered Mr. Obama is ineligible, a constitutional crisis would ensue attempting to determine which of his executive branch orders should be valid.” It goes on to warn that “if...Mr. Obama fights revealing his documentation, there is growing concern of civil unrest, or worse, being unleashed in the streets of our nation. The economic crisis coupled with this type of a constitutional crisis could prove to be a flashpoint that would test conventional law enforcement and elements of homeland security.”

The stream of law suits, the most recent of which have been tendered by high ranking military officers and state legislators, to compel Obama to prove his eligibility have been unremitting and increasingly vocal. A request for “quo warranto” action, an apparent last-ditch legal remedy, was recently delivered to both the US Attorney for the District of Columbia and to the Attorney General.

Dovetailing with this unsettling assessment, and pretty much out of public view, are the following national security developments which, in their totality, could well signal acute domestic instability in the period ahead.

Upon the recommendation of the Army’s Strategic Studies Institute, The Army Times reported that a somewhat euphemistically dubbed “Consequence Management Response Force (CCMRF),” currently the role of the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, but which, reportedly, might eventually comprise upwards of 80,000 troops, is being trained and readied to deal with what could be widespread civil disorder resulting from an “unforeseen economic collapse” or “loss of a functional political and legal order.”

Symptomatic of festering civil unrest are the many “tea parties” springing up around the country, growing fears of economic disintegration and of both crippling terrorist attacks and even of perceived federal overreaching. Add to this the very real threat of a rogue nuclear EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) attack on the homeland which could instantaneously reduce the country to a paralytic pre-industrial condition, plus the unrest on our southern border, and there appears to be ample and justifiable cause for concern and appropriate contingency planning at every level of government.

"Thought Provoking"  by Pam Geller of Atlas Shrugs

I am a student of history.  Professionally, I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied history all my life.  I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis.  Yes, these exist but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening.  I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about 10 - 15 years.  The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codified into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people whom we know could never pay back?  Why?  We learned recently that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms.  That is our money..  Yours and mine.  And that is three times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September.

Who has this money?  Why do they have it?  Why are the terms unavailable to us?  Who asked for it?  Who authorized it?  I thought this was a government of "We the People," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders.  Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy.  Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving.  Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate.  Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity.  Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman.  Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?).  We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.)  The list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth.  It is potentially 1929 x 10.  And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska .  All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not d ownright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders?  No?  Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it.  Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important.)

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change.  Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now. This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life..  In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure.  Change is indeed coming.  And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s.  In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing.  What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises.  Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker.  And he smiled and waved a lot.  And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission.

And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression].  Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy.  The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think.  How did he get the people on his side?  He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex.  He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe , and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that?  And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change.  And the people surely got what they voted for.  (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)  Read your history books.  Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of.  When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker.  He was right, though .

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe . It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities.  And in less than six years - a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency - it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors.  All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice:  I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong, close my eyes, have another latte and ignore what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me; others laugh or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am.  But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe - and why I believe it.  I pray I am wrong. But, I do not think I am..

Or, I could take it camping - would go well with my Patriot Blue Jeep... ;^)

Home Processing of Poultry

Processing is the final step in the production of broiler chickens. As the saying goes "last, but certainly not least. " The quality of the final product is dependent on proper processing. Processing of chickens involves the steps discussed herein.

Preparing the Chicken for Slaughter

Birds that are to be slaughtered should be taken off feed long enough before processing (about 12 hrs.) to allow the crop and intestinal tract time to empty. A full digestive system increases the chance of contamination of the carcass during removal of the viscera. Birds should be caught and placed in crates or coops during the night to avoid excitement and possible injury of the birds prior to slaughter.

Slaughter Procedure

In slaughtering birds position their heads down to facilitate bleeding. This can be accomplished through the use of killing cones, shackles, or a rope around the feet.

After the bird is properly positioned the killing and bleeding step follows. Several important factors must be kept in mind. The bird must be killed in such a way to allow most of the blood to drain from the body and at the same time limit struggling to prevent damage to the carcass.

A widely used method that accomplishes these objectives is making a cut just behind the jaw. The cut should sever the jugular vein without cutting the esophogus or wind pipe. (See Figure 1) A weight can then be hung from the beak to limit the movement of the bird. This is a humane method of slaughter because the bird is unconscious due to loss of blood from the brain.

Any method which involves beheading or wringing the neck accomplishes the killing but falls to produce a properly bled carcass. The heart stops when the spinal cord is severed.

Another procedure which works well is to debrain the chicken after beginning the bleeding. The procedure is to locate the slit in the roof of the mouth and insert a small bladed knife at a slight angle. Push the knife point toward the back of the brain, with the handle approximately parallel to the upper beak. (See Figure 1) A slight squawk indicates successful debraining. Debraining, if done properly, will allow dry picking or will facilitate picking when the sub-scald is used.

Scalding

Scalding involves submerging the carcass in hot water to relax the muscles holding the feathers. For small groups of birds a large bucket can work well. For larger numbers of birds a thermostatically controlled heated tank may be best. For birds that are difficult to scald (waterfowl, in particular) a wetting agent or detergent may need to be added to the water.

Scalding temperatures should be determined by the type of poultry and the difficulty of picking. For waterfowl and mature birds a higher temperature and longer submersion time should be used. For younger birds a lower temperature and shorter time is recommended.

Semi-scald or slack scald is the name given to scalding for 30-60 seconds in 125-130 degrees F. water. By using this time and temperature the epidermal layer is left intact. Birds that are being slaughtered for an exhibit should be scalded in this way to improve the appearance of the carcass. Water that is too hot will cause the outer layer of skin to loosen and be lost. Loss of that skin also results in loss of some yellow pigment on the skin.

Sub-scald is the use of water at 138-140 degrees F. for 30-75 seconds. The epidermal layer is broken down by this time-temperature combination but the feathers are usually much easier to remove. For home processing this method of scalding is recommended.

Hard-scald or full scald requires a water temperature of 140-150 degrees F. This method is faster and eliminates pinfeathers, but the birds tend to dry out and have a less desirable appearance. Waterfowl may be scalded at this temperature.

Whatever method is used the birds must be properly bled. No scalding should be done before all movement has stopped.

Feather Removal

Birds should be plucked immediately after scalding. If mechanical pickers are used they should be adjusted for the size birds being picked. Mechanical pickers make the job much faster. Birds that are to be exhibited should be plucked by hand being sure that all pinfeathers are removed, and that there is no damage to the skin. This procedure requires a good deal of time if done correctly. Rubbing the feathers from the skin is frequently more effective than a picking motion.

Evisceration

Evisceration involves the removal of the contents of the body cavity plus the feet and head. To remove the head cut around the neck just behind the head, and twist. The neck skin should then be split down the back and a second cut made at the base of the neck. A twist will usually separate the neck from the body. Next the esophagus, trachea and crop should be separated from the neck skin. They can be left attached and be pulled from the body with the viscera.

The body cavity can be opened by making a small cut near the vent, extending the cut around the vent, being careful not to cut the intestine or contaminate the carcass with fecal material. (See Figure 2)

For exhibition birds the abdominal opening should be as small as possible to improve the appearance of the finished product. After the abdomen is open the viscera can be removed through the opening. It is very important to remove all the viscera, including the lungs which are attached to the back. After all the contents of the cavity are removed the bird should be thoroughly washed inside and out.

After the viscera have been removed the heart, liver and gizzard should be separated and saved. The ends of any parts of the vascular system that may be attached to the heart should be removed by trimming off the top to expose the chambers. The heart should be washed and squeezed to force out any remaining blood. The green gall bladder should be carefully trimmed away from the liver. Next the gizzard should be split lengthwise and the contents washed away. The lining should then be peeled away from the rest of the gizzard.

After the evisceration procedure has been completed the carcass should be cooled as soon as possible. Ice water or a refrigerator can be used, however, the ice water will do the job a little faster. If birds are to be frozen the gizzard, heart and liver can be wrapped in waxed paper and placed inside the body cavity. The birds can then be placed in a moisture-vapor proof bag and frozen.

Upon the recommendation of the Army’s Strategic Studies Institute, The Army Times reported that a somewhat euphemistically dubbed “Consequence Management Response Force (CCMRF),” currently the role of the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, but which, reportedly, might eventually comprise upwards of 80,000 troops, is being trained and readied to deal with what could be widespread civil disorder resulting from an “unforeseen economic collapse” or “loss of a functional political and legal order.”<<<

Not a surprise, he knows we are digging and will sooner or later hit the truth.

What a mess.

Here is the truth and it fits with the Army post.

Clinton started training the Military to control us and clinton started the ‘camps’.

I would say that the clintons laid the ground work for obama or another of his crowd to complete the take over of America.

We were checking and following the clinton camps before Y2K.

Pam is sharp and right on the problem, I have to agree with her, the fear and excitement is in the air.
