Hey .... Happy birthday, NnB.
I see that you and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow share a birthday.
I posted one of his poems above.
How about sharing one of yours?

Have a fun birthday.

Happy Birthday, Bill!

She Was a Phantom of Delight

  She was a phantom of delight
When first she gleamed upon my sight;
A lovely Apparition, sent
To be a moment's ornament;
Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair;
Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
But all things else about her drawn
From May-time and the cheerful Dawn;
A dancing Shape, an Image gay,
To haunt, to startle, and way-lay.

I saw her upon a nearer view,
A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
Her household motions light and free,
And steps of virgin liberty;
A countenance in which did meet
Sweet records, promises as sweet;
A Creature not too bright or good
For human nature's daily food;
For transient sorrows, simple wiles,
Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears and smiles.

And now I see with eye serene
The very pulse of the machine;
A Being breathing thoughtful breath,
A Traveler between life and death;
The reason firm, the temperate will,
Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;
A perfect Woman, nobly planned,
To warm, to comfort, and command;
And yet a Spirit still, and bright,
With something of angelic light.

William Wordsworth

Me too, Amy and yorkie! I am getting ready to eat...just got in from the drudgery of paying County property taxes and didn’t have lunch. What I wouldn’t give for one of those, yorkie! Bet it has 2,000 calories in it...LOL!

It looks JUST like the apple fritters my friends and I would eat every Saturday morning, before we hit the garage sales. (Same size, too.) We always asked the baker to take all the calories out, so we never worried about that little ‘problem’. (grin)

“Daffodils” (1804)

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch’d in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:
I gazed — and gazed — but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

It is fun, Meg! You should have seen me when those now grown granddaughters were born. After I had my two boys, I did want a girl. Most everyone else, especially my son, wanted a son. I will never forget when they brought my daughter in law from the delivery room, I was standing by the bed they were rolling her on, she grabbed my hand and looked up and said “Well, you got your little girl.”

By the way, my two granddaughters are both graduating from college, one will be May 2 and one will be May 7 or 9, not sure! One went to King College here in Bristol (my brother graduated from King many years ago) and the other girl will graduate from East Tennessee State University.
This is going to be a very exciting time for our family. I suppose we will try to have a big party! We enjoy parties like everyone does, I guess!

I couldn’t find a swoon so had to make one out of faint. What is this world coming to?

Milestones

A binary milestone on my quest,
Though it's not one to be the best,
Just ambling on around the sun,
Relaxing after day is done.

Today it's cake, tomorrow sweat,
They aren't all the same thing yet,
When dawn comes up I never know,
The happenstance that will bestow,

The variations I employ,
In getting through that day with joy.
Sometimes I'll plumb, or take a crack,
At being a cautious steeplejack.

A timber man, I was last week,
Don't wish for firewood; it will seek.
The branch came down, halfway and stuck,
So guess who got to try his luck?

Next month, I guess the lamp will need,
Fresh wires for its power feed,
Or I, the dutiful honey-do-er,
Will be hip-deep in fresh manure.

You have to swoon in order to faint. You don't have to faint to swoon but most swooners do lose consciousness.

Sure looks like he’s had a few too many, taking those high steps...heh heh!

I swear I start googling for one or two things and this thing comes over me and I can’t quit looking....

Been thinking about this:

My name is Jaycee and I’m a Googleholic.
Sometimes I google for hours.
I am afraid it could go into days.
I think I have a problem.

LOL!
