True, but I always thought “The August Chronicles” had a nice ring to it.

Morning, all! Upper 50’s and fog. The byos are all howling, for some reason. Fortunately, the dog doesn’t seem to care.

She’s a she. Her coat has improved in the last few days, with the fish oil in her food. She’s still a little dandruffy and needs to be brushed several times a day.

My mother said there’s a greyhound club where they live in “The Villages.” They bring their dogs out for all the community parades. Ash is afraid of Shannon, the little calico cat; Shannon called her a Name at their first encounter and did her whole Hallowe’en Kitty act.

We had a ferret, Fred, when we adopted our grey, Hallie. Hallie went for Fred when we first brought her home, and he never forgave her. He would lie in wait for her, and then leap up and attach himself to her back leg with his teeth. She would shriek and run with him holding on. We really had to watch him. He weighed two pounds, and she weighed 55.

Shannon goes “grumble grumble” when she sees Ash, and Ash whimpers. She’s also afraid of the blow-up Christmas decorations in a lot of the yards on our street!

Hallie was afraid of men in baseball caps for years. It took over a year for her to stop shying away from my husband. She also had trouble walking on uncarpeted floors and on stairs. She was so goofy, with such a great smile.

Ash is not good with the stairs yet. She doesn’t mind the wood floors, as long as she has her padded bed to lie down on. The brown one in the picture has been moved upstairs to her crate, and we got a second one to use downstairs.
