I’ve always been lukewarm on McCain being GOP Pres. nominee-in 200 and this yr., although I respect him, he’d be #4-5 of my list of choices.
However, he’s ours now and I support him 150%-especially with the alternative.
I’m no nervous nellie, but I was bugging yesterday before the kickoff, worried Mac would blow this one too-McCain didn’t do well in the 1st 2 debates- Actually, he did OK, but with the bias against him-he needed to do better than OK to score any points. Unfair? yes, but reality.
I was VERY pleasantly surprised last evening. To play Mon. morning QB-I think he could have hit harder, and been a little more tenacious, but I’m very happy-he needs to keep it up and pile it on.
You can say what you want about McCain, but you have to give him this:
He has the ability to make an honest assessment of a situation and is willing to make a drastic change to address any shortcomings.
Examples:
1. Iraq - McCain was one of the early supporters of the highly successful change in tactics of the Surge.
2. Border Fence - Originally a huge amnesty supporter until the huge outcry from the nation. He now (I believe) honestly wants the fence built BEFORE we consider any further action against illegals.
3. Conservative Base - Originally thought he could win an election by abandoning the base. He then picked Palin. ‘nuff said.
4. Election Quality - Initially thought an election could be conducted on an honest discussion of ideas. But democrats intend to steal the election with fraudulent voter registration, illegal campaign contributions and non-stop attacks on Palin. Last night McCain showed that he has once again ‘learned and adjusted’. I hope it wasn’t too late.
Dangit!
It’s not on their website, but my son and I both saw it on their AM news show.
Make that before 6. Don’t know where I got 3 pm.
Nope...dick morris and other pundits say that McCain’s win may not have immediate impact, but will in the long run. He beat Obama at every question...had many soundbytes, these soundbytes would certainly be played over and over if Obama said them.
I'll have to go back and find the particular question where Obama started wandering off into stuttering, babbling incoherency. I think it was about either energy or the economy, but he was all over the map about energy-efficient cars because...us...transportation is 25% of...what?
I don't quite get Fox on this. It's like they set the focus group up for Obama to win. Maybe they want to prove the Beltway Boys aren't the jackasses we kow they are.
Got a phone call from good friends of mine in NC last night. First words out of his mouth “are you watching the debate?” Second, “It’s great he is bringing out ACORN too!” Mind you, neither one is registered to vote and may not have ever voted. Yet both of them watched every debate so far. I think the Conservatives are getting through and the people on the periferary of the political debate are paying attention. I am more confident than I was a month ago that Socialism scares the bejesus out of average Americans when they really get a chance to think about it.
They are both hard working, generous family people that always struck me as apolitical. The wife’s parents own a 2 employee electrical contractor service so they are “Joe the plumber” Not wealthy, just hardworking successful people who would probably resent having more of their hard earned money confiscated for Sen. Obama’s social programs.
I figured the wheels would come off the Obama train months ago, but they seem to be loosening now!
Now, the big question is, will this help him with the elusive “undecideds”..
in fairness, the SS report on the ‘kill him’ story - that really should be covered as to the reporter’s lie - didn’t come out till they were already in lockdown mode for the debate.
I agree with wbill, tho ... the Fox pundits that I saw were watching a different debate than the one I saw. As usually, from my perspective, McCain started off badly on the first round, then got into it and was great for the rest of the night. There were moments I wanted to stand up and cheer. Maybe a little bumbly here and there but certainly I’d say overall the night was his.
And, I’m getting mighty sick of the Fox team, but that’s been coming for a few years now. If Obama wins this election, I’m doing away with cable.
There is only so much time to make all your points, and Bob Schieffer kept cutting off McCain every time he was kicking 0bama’s butt! I counted at least 4 times that Schieffer did that. Plus I think that McCain wanted to show what he would do as president as well as attacking 0. And I thought that 0bama was allowed to drone on and on. If the winner was who had possession of the ball the longest, then 0bama would have won that.
McCain performed well relative to his own capabilities. But McCain is no Ronald Reagan and is not a very good communicator, period, especially on television.
The pundits are revealing their overwhelming credence for style over substance. Regretably, in this television age, most Americans do, too.
Yeah, there were a few lies I wish he would of covered better as well, but obama lies so dang much that it’s hard to keep up. Mccain didn’t have enough time to combat all the lies. It seemed that obama even started adopting Mccain’s stance on issues when he became clueless to his own stance. It’s really bad when you have to start using your opponents talking points, because you know his plan is better than your own! What a sorry individual!
OVERALL, I THINK MCCAIN WIPED THE FLOOR WITH HIM! obama looked to me like a confused schoolboy sitting next to his wise professor.
Bet Obama wishes he talked to someone else!
Here’s a hint Senator Government, don’t pass the microphone to anyone with callouses on their hands!
I feel like sending a box of Kool-aid to Fox News. They need to stop drinking the stuff supplied by the Obama campaign.
You’re so right! That was the turning point of this election, I’m really excited. Plus I can vote early today in NC.
I never said or suggested McCain was Reagan, but he clearly spanked the hell out of Fauxbama last night, it wasn’t even close.
There are many, many more "Joe the plumbers" out here, and we're everywhere. Joe the Plumber is a Reagan Republican - like many of us, he wants the government off his back and out of his wallet. He, myself, and countless others are sick of this increasingly socialist government. The media and the left hate us. The right often ignores us. But there are more of us than there are of them, by a long shot.
The FOX “pundits” are not impressive.
The Forbes magaizine gal’s husband worked for the Romney campaign and she has little or no talent or insight.
Mort Kondrake is boring.
Juan Williams is, well Juan Williams with no talent.
He kicked ass!! Did you see how many times Obama went for his water glass? He was nervous and also I could see some scary anger underneath.
By constrast, McCain seemed the happy warrior, glad to believe in what he does and proud to say it. Obama looked like his inner prayer was “let them believe my lies for three more weeks!”
What someone, you, I or the DUers, think often are in conflict with the general public at large that aren’t political fanatics. The question to me becomes did either one change a lot of people’s minds. My guess is no neither did.
