Wonderful post....these eyewitness accounts are the best!!
Great story, great shots. I was down in the crowd in front of the microphones. Way down.
Thanks for a great post that conveyed your excitement and made me feel almost like I was there.
He also was there at the rally and gave a very good speech.
The crowd was enthusiastic and during his speech held up signs for him.
I live /work about 5 miles from Media. Heard about the appearance, but thought it was early afternoon. If I had known it was later, would have went from work to the rally.
Anyway, I was home watching the 5 o’clock news. The Philly NBC channel was talking about the rally. They cut to the helicopter over the rally, saying they’d show the crowd. For 1-2 sec., they showed some houses, etc—not the crowd. Then suddenly, the copter camera shot straight up, showing the sky-then back to studio—they never showed the crowd-at least not during the next 50 min. I watched for it. No explanation-I’m sure it wasn’t intentional (/sarc)
WOW...what a great experience for you and your family. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks!! Great pics. BTTT
Call me a kook but I believe that the "enormous presence" comes from "above our paygrades".
Thanks for sharing!
Well Done!
I will admit that I was not a bit excited about voting for McCain, for all the typical conservative reasons. McCain's pick of Sarah Palin for his VP turned me around. She lives her (my) conservative values, is a stand-up example for all women and girls, has a beautiful family, and is smart as a whip, IMO. (I read somewhere that her dad said she had been reading the newspaper since she was a little kid; so I think she will be a formidable debate opponent of Joe "The Genius" Biden.)
Again, thank you for sharing your great family story with FReepers here.
:-)
Fantastic report and photos. You don’t realize until you’ve attended one, how worthwhile and memorable these events are.
Great report, and I’m green with evny at you seat location.
In the very first pic at your post #8, there is a cameraperson in bright blue. We are under the flag directly to the left (his right). It was not even that close as the pic distorts the distance.
We didn’t have a good view at all as the big black speakers obstructed our view, but I didn’t care and neither did anyone else.
We wanted McCain and Sarah to hear us and know we were there supporting them.
I asked a very tall man to the side to try to get pix and he kept shooting away. Hopefull some good ones turned out.
Our big thrill was when we were waiting on Baltimore Pike to get the bus back to the mall the Straight Talk Express moved slowly up the pike right in front of us. We cheered and waved wildly. It was just too exciting.
Glad you had such a great day with your family. My daughter, her babies and my friend and I had a fantastic time.
I was thinking about you yesterday. Glad that you also had a great time. It was thrilling wasn’t it? The energy and atmosphere still has us pumped up today.
Thank you for sharing your report! I could feel the excitement while reading it!
Thank you for the wonderful report and fantastic photos!!! It’s wonderful that you were able to be on the stage - definitely prayers answered.
I was there with one of my sisters. I live off Orange St. in Media. I’m in the first picture you posted..lol Just to the left of Sarah Palin’s head is me (right behind the guy in the red baseball cap).
It was a great rally wasn’t it!!
