I had me
a '73 Vega
all rusty-crusty bronze
with big white patches where the scabs fell off
and the leathery
vinyl
sunburnt skin on the roof peeled back
and flapped all free
when I really let 'er rip
down I-63.

The windshield was cracked
and the old foam seats
were erupting beige boils
in the fissures of the seams
where the mildew grew
but the drive shaft was fine
from what I could see
through the hole in the floor.

Oh I loved my crusty old Vega.
Her rear end wobbled like a hoochy-coochy dancer
but it didn't bother me
cause I couldn't see
cause the Vega didn't have no
rear-view mirror.

I dont remeber the year of the car, but it was an opal. It looked like a mini corvette at the time. (but ran like a scooter)

I got married in 1977 and my in-laws gave us a 68 Dodge Charger, green with black vinyl top, for a wedding gift. That was my first car. I was 22.

My first was a 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 with the Getrag 5 speed stick. I learned to drive a stick by driving it home from the dealer lot.

My first car was a nondescript white ‘84 Accord. Probably the coolest car was the ‘86 Mercedes 560SL I sold just before I had my daughter, but my favorite was a little red ‘93 Mazda MX3. Zippy as all get-out, and I could make it all the way from Boston to Exeter, NH with the “out of gas” light on...LOL!

3 cars
1961 Ford Falcon....it was unbreakable!
1967 VW Bug with flared fenders, wide tires, and a racing tran. I could fix it with a clostheshanger!
Current - Jaguar, S Type, it was my dream car.

My first was a pontiac Volare’ station wagon, a ‘78, I think. It was two-tone: White and bondo. My Dad used to call it “the Klingon Cruiser.”

Cars were fun then, weren’t they. I learned to drive on a 61 Olds 98 with a 425 caddy engine. What a ride. :)

That brings back memories of the Volare commercial with Ricardo Montalban.
