I remember a hurricane named Carla that ran up the coast and then sat for a while. We need to pay close attention to this until it moves on shore.

Yeah, and I eventually got a brand new fence thanks to another storm. A purty vinyl privacy fence.

Yeah I hope so..we flood really hard. She’s going to be bad news for where ever she comes in in STX though.

I certainly hope so. However, the radar loop is showing a turn into the coast not indicated by the VDMs yet.

Which direction are your winds coming from?

That's at flight-level. Since the plane was flying at the 700-mb flight-level, the estimated surface-level winds are only 90% of that, or 95 mph.

North east. Side ways sheets of rain now. Looks like a river going down the road. I was standing in the garage watching and suddenly got a shower :’)

TWC has what appears to be an Oompa Loompa reporting from S. Padre.

Or: You know it’s gonna be one of those days when...

I just ordered new garage doors rated to 150mph. They should arrive right about peak of the season at the end of August.

Judging by the preliminary VDM just coming in, that's going to be one heck of a turn, and a steeper (if extrapolated) pressure drop.

Waiting for the prelim tag to be removed.

The pressure drop, and increase in wind speed are consistent with a low Category 2 storm.

The prelim VDM has a suggested motion of west-southwest and an estimatedpressure drop of 4 mb since the last one (and 3 mb since the latest advisory). I do note that the prelim VDM does not have a met accuracy available, so I don't know how accurate that fix is.

The radar loop is showing a westward motion.

Sustained winds didn’t match the prelim data. Pressure 1MB higher.

And it is looking more and more organized and powerful with each new sat photo. South Padre is gonna take a pretty good pounding from this storm - it is fat in the dirty sector.
