.
In todays way of thinking, receiving payment moves you into a higher categorythat of a professional. The reasoning is that if someone is willing to pay for your service, you must be really good. An amateur, therefore, is considered to have less skill or talent.
As I read my Bible, however, I see a different hierarchy of values. During the time of Jesus, the religious professionals were using their position to gain power and prestige for themselves, not to serve the people. Jesus didnt choose those who were wise, mighty, or noble by human standards (1 Cor. 1:26). He sought those willing to follow Him and be trained for loving service.
In todays world, the scene is much the same. God is still looking for amateurs, those who will serve the Lord for the sheer love of it. Compelled by our love for Jesus, may we, like the disciples and apostles before us, proclaim the love of God for the world by following Christs example of loving and serving others.
How very lovely that was, Cardhu! Thank you for the beautiful Presentations.
People get ready
Theres a train a-coming
You dont need no baggage
You just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels humming
Dont need no ticket
You just thank the lord
People get ready
For the train to jordan
Picking up passengers
From coast to coast
Faith is the key
Open the doors and board them
Theres room for all
Among the loved the most
There aint no room
For the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind
just To save his own
Have pity on those
Whose chances are thinner
Cause theres no hiding place
From the kingdoms throne
So people get ready
For the train a-comin
You dont need no baggage
You just get on board !
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels humming
Dont need no ticket
You just thank,
you just thank the Lord
Yeah
Ooh Yeah
Ooh
Im getting ready
Im getting ready
This time Im ready
This time Im ready
Good Saturday Morning, Mr. Mayor and thank you once again for today’s meaningful message. I appreciate it!
Love Rod Stewart. Sigh What is about guys singing train songs?! LOL
GG, it’s either that, or it’s trucks! ;-)
Thanks yorkie~~
Did you like Rod Stewart’s love songs he put out about 2 years ago. He did four and I finally got the four, just one at a time. These were the titles of each C. D. as they came out!
It Had to be You
As Time Goes By
Stardust
Thanks for the Memory
They are wonderful.....

Trucks are cool, too—they just don’t have the inherent romance of trains!
If i’ve heard them, i don’t remember. I’ll have to look for them. Thanks
Thanks yorkie...those C.D.’s I was speaking of have about 12-14 songs on each. Most of the songs you listed are on my C.D.’s. He can really sing a love song...I especially love those older songs and his voice.
You are welcome, JC. I couldn’t find “Thanks for the Memory” or “Stardust”..... but enjoyed listening to him singing these oldies.
I think Barry Manilow and Michael Bolton both tried to revive old songs, but were not as successful as Rod Stewart.
Hey.....Looks like I hit #2,700. Heh heh
