Yahbbut...I already have two. So that’s different....
... Says the gal who wouldn't take one when I had seven of them to choose from! :~o
And we’ve got to go get hay. And cat food.
How come?
I was thinking more along the lines of cookies and some sorta pasta salad from the deli. Maybe. It’s likely to be a long, warm drive down, even with the A/C on.
Chips and salsa are a great choice. That's just usually why 90% of the people who forgot to make something bring them.
Heh...
There weren’t any last time. So maybe I’d get lucky...
Back home they always did the last name deal for potlucks — stuff like if your last name begins with A-G, bring an entree, if your name begins with H-S bring a salad, T-Z bring desserts. Or something like that. But when it’s a free-for-all, I just dunno.
I need structure!
I’m sure we’ve had this conversation before. But the way my Mother and Nana raised Not Valerie and me, when you go to a potluck (referred to here as “covered dish”) you take a meal for your family.
That meant entre, sides, desert and drink. It’s just how it was ~done~.
That’s not what pot luck means around here! Around here, the whole point of a pot luck is you each bring one thing, enough for everyone, and then everyone gets quite a variety.
On a hot day, I don’t think you can have too many cold fruit salads and things, but I’d avoid stuff with mayo in it, just so you don’t end up killing somebody.
Well, so much for the temporary fence around the apple tree in the back forty...
Pony, if you notice, can't reach any of the apples (any more) so she waits to grab the ones Cyn shakes down.
Now BAY, MY horse, would never cross that tape, even laying on the ground. He's a GOOD BOY! :~)
The mares, on the other hand, have spoiled their opportunity to be in the back forty at all now until we can get all the apples off of that tree. :~\
Ecurbh wants to just cut it down tomorrow. It's nothing but an attractive nuisance out there, right in the hot part of summer when it would be nice to offer them the back forty for it's shade.
We're a Mac family and have been from the beginning. There's nothing we can't run on it, from *NIX to Windoze (we opted for Parallels). Downside will be cost. Macs are spendy - you get what you pay for, but it's still $$. A PC will be more headaches with it catching virii and crapware and such, but you can get them cheap.
Aaaah Caturday. I’m home finally - had to give up a Sunday and a Caturday to get here, but I’m home. !!!
Oh, I know. It's not what it means for us anymore either. It's just the way our mamas did it.
Well, I have one cousin who does it that way at family gatherings, she brings little containers of food for her family.
So if you did it, we’d just assume you were a little neurotic or had bizarre food allergies. “It’s a shame about them... you know... they have problems” :~)
.....or the people you’re potlucking with can’t cook and you don’t want to risk ptomaine poisoning.
No, not little containers.
ALL the wimmin would bring that much. People who only brought one dish “just didn’t know any better.”
Bless their hearts. ;-)
Trap any cats lately?
Well...not me. I was going to ask Hair. /talking to myself
We’ll be setting the traps tonight! :~)
