Collards seem to be an acquired taste—I still like mine with lots of ham!

They’re really hard to grow in the middle of the summer. Collards are a cool weather crop but in order to have them ready in mid Aug/Sept we have to start them in July. OTOH, we have quite a rep for having THE best collard plants around!

I love “lots of ham”, too..I don’t indulge often now that I must watch out for cholesterol ..so boring!

I’ve given up! I pretty much eat what I want. We’ve decided that anything that tastes good isnt good for you. if it tastes bad, eat all you want!

My boss takes a supplement made of dried muscadine grape hulls for his chol. His brother’s cholesterol dropped enough that his doctor cut his chol. meds in half. Lots of antioxidants in them too.

Count me in on loving those southren-cooked greens... so good. Collards are also one of our best sources of calcium.

I would never touch stewed okra but fried okra is one of my most favorites. I could eat the first pan cooked waiting on the next pan of okra to fry.

Oh, ‘Dita, I didn’t mean to make anyone teary-eyed - but to share somehow, my husband’s respect for our country. Thank you, Meg and Amy, too, for replying. It touched my heart deeply.

I will be in studio with Kevin from 10:30 till 11 AM. Of course I will be discussing the tolls and the Bill in the Senate and Assembly to take the control of the 190 from the thruway authority and turn it over to the NYSDOT. I will also be looking for our Federal representation and our missing congress critter Louise Slaughter.

You can listen on the radio at 930 AM or streaming audio at WBEN.com
