I saw firsthand how he and another FReeper were having issues regarding his copyrighted toons. That FReeper made points that only an insider would know.

Pookie challenged her and she fessed up. She was a Moderator who just happened to be posting as an ordinary FReeper.

He still has posting privileges right?

As far as I know, he does.

He just will not/can not post his toons as he did before.

Yes, I can & do still post here on occasion...just decided that I didn't want to get into an argument that I couldn't win...

I did post a thread re cartoonist Michael Ramirez winning the Pulitzer Prize. Ironically, his cartoons were among several that the mods deleted from my last couple of threads...

Thanks, Old Sarge! I miss posting the toons here as well. OTOH, I don’t miss the selectivity, hypocrisy, etc., of some of the mods & others. The mods at the other sites where I post are friendly, helpful, out in the open, etc. Will FReepmail you with more info because I don’t recall if I have already :-(

You were violating copyright restrictions forced on Free Republic by the courts. Sorry if you think we violated your freedom of speech but the copyright lawsuit cost FR a huge amount of money. Do you want to pay for the next lawsuit?

Nah, we’ll just leave up your comments as the words of someone who fails to grasp the fact that FR fought the good fight and lost over fair-use copyright issues. And that the suit cost a lot of money and effort. And that ever since, many media outlets have directly contacted FR to request limitations on what can be posted here, and a large chunk of the workload for the moderators (with a lot of help from most freepers) is making sure that such restrictions are adhered to in order to prevent a lawsuit that could shut FR down.

Apparently, you also seem to think that the moderators, who are volunteers, are somehow being capricious and arbitrary in their enforcement of those myriad requests, when it took a couple of mods several hours to wallow through one pookie18 thread’s worth of cartoons to ferret out all those in violation of copyright issues. The only reason it had not been done before is precisely because of the effort level and that the mods had not realized just how many of the cartoons you posted were in violation of the requests from media outlets - such as IBD not allowing FR to post Ramirez cartoons.

And that is the problem - you were exposing FR to any number of potential lawsuits. You are free to determine which cartoons are allowed to be legally posted on FR and post those. Oh, that’s a lot of work! Just dump it on the mods! And blame them for protecting FR from lawsuits!

Yeah, heaven forbid mods ever post under their own screen names and state the obvious (or what should be obvious) regarding copyright restrictions.
