I enjoyed our dinner together, but I'm sure glad we decided to eat instead of taking in a show!

I consider "Expelled" to be targeting the same neo-luddism anti-science people that Al Gore siphoned money from. I can agree that men like Dawkins take their "A as in Atheism" a little too aggressively, but Stein's take is even worse in its scholarship than Gore's and Moore's.

No wonder Ferris couldn't take him.

Those scientists who are also very religious do not try to crowbar metaphysical explanations into their work. They know that if they did, they would risk the justifiable opprobrium of their colleagues. It's just a matter of doing the work, as is that of a defense lawyer. Appeals to mystical forces shouldn't work in a trial, or in a laboratory.

I’ve always thought, had I been in Germany at the time of the rise of Hitler, I most likely would have been skeptical at best, and harboring Jews, at “worst.”

I'd like to think the same of myself, but we'll never truly know.

I seldom look at any situation without seeing logic, or the lack, thereof. Because of that, people suspect me of having “masculine” leanings. I do. But only insofar as the masculine leaning can enhance the feminine yearning.

That being said. I drive like a man. I approach problems/challenges as things to be overcome, not things to be “loved” into submission.

I do NOT understand women, though I ARE one....

Emotions seem to be in my way when I’m faced with a challenge, so I try to over-ride them. At times, this goes too far, and I admit it.

Still, when Push comes to Shove, I’m still ‘Face! With perfume, lace, silk, perfume and slinkies....

Logic tells me that God will give me whatever information I need at the moment, or He will lead me to it. I trust Him. As a result, I’m never disappointed.

I'd do it this way: (Desk)

Make a rectangular section of PVC pipe, glueing the joints. Have uprights that can connect by plugging into unglued corners.

Cut your plywood or other surface to fit the above. Use two to three inch pieces of plywood along the edges, inside the PVC outline, to wedge the plywood in place. Stack these braces until you can surround the PVC slightly so that the surface is wedged from both upper and lower forces. Then glue and screw the plywood parts together. (Carpenter's glue and drywall screws.)

This will give you a permanent desktop that can fit through doors and tight stairwells. Use the same treatment for a lower section and upper shelves. Leave room for your feet.

Carry the pieces around as you see fit, and assemble them where you want to by putting the bottom in place, sticking the uprights in, and setting the desktop on that.

Sturdy, portable, and repairable.
