LOL!
Many times, someone else will already be making the argument I would have made, so I don’t see a point in engaging in disagreement with an Undead FRiend. Sometimes a penguin picture is useful, but not as often as one might wish.

Or Eddie Murphy as "Buckwheat":
The list could go on. You have to diversify, TC. ;)

On Saturday, I was at my friend’s house, saying goodbye to his parental unit. I had done some taping of the car the night before, but I couldn’t (after two hours) get either of the two VCRs to work. One had sound and no picture, the other had picture and no sound.
My friend yelled at me about it. Rather than respond in kind, I turned my back and walked away. I went into the house, hugged his mother and told her to have a safe trip, I gathered up my jacket and bag and left.
My friend finally called me Monday evening. He didn’t mention Saturday, and neither did I. But I can tell you today that he remembered what transpired, and I suspect he won’t repeat the mistake.
I say this because experience tells me that I don’t have to “ARGUE” with anyone about anything. I’m in charge of me and my feelings, and therefore, I can choose to be insulted, or amused, or to walk away. I will give NO ONE the power to dictate how I feel.

There are times in which one can persuade others without going over the edge. Other times, it's best to understand that the only thing that will change is your response to the situation. Not that I'm advocating that one become some sort of self-absorbed solipsistic type--it goes back to the concept of knowing when to let something go.

But we must disagree agreeably. Ever amen to that!
I've had friends with whom I disagree just about every way politically and other ways... but they're still good folk.
It's a little harder to do when under pressure, through.

There are some people who aren’t happy until they can force one into arguing. There are others who like to argue but don’t know when to quit. And there are probably as many other types as one can think of.
I don’t mind discussing things, but if I see that an argument is on its way, I will make an exit. With CFIDS, I can’t afford to allow myself to be drawn into something as damaging as negative feelings.
Other people have other ways of dealing with those situations, but I’ve chosen the way that is best for me.
So if I can’t make a point in a calm manner, I’m gone. (Or maybe it’s that yellow stripe down my back...) :o])

Have fun, NnBob -- and make sure you aim straight for those hamburger patties. They can dangerous (and messy) if merely wounded.
Here it's a weekend home, as usual, at the Northwest Folklife. Not performing this year, for the first time in years.

Those who can make the distinction between having an argument (vulgar) and making an argument (logical) are worth debating.

It is not trite.
"Is this the hill you wish to die on?" Is a question that should be kept in mind.
One night Mr. Bear and I were arguing over some point. I came up with a truly scathing retort... and stopped before it could tumble out. This was the person I cared about most in the world, the one I was going to spend my life with and I was going to rip his guts out over.... nothing really.
While the denizens of the UT are not quite as important as a spouse the same concept does apply. We are friends and friend should be able to argue tactfully, yield gracefully and know when not to argue at all.

sion, I downloaded that restoration URL you gave me, but when I clicked on it, after it was downloaded, it didnt open. *sigh* I'll have to take a look -- it's on my Windows work laptop. I seem to recall it was a ZIP file that you unzipped, and you then run the executable directly (from Windows Explorer by clicking on the .exe file). But I will have to look...

One of the things I liked about Igor was his ability to discuss things that other people wouldn’t touch. For whatever reason, after a couple of years, it all became personal to him.
That ruined a good friendship, and destroyed our marriage. But I wrote to him before he died and told him I forgave him for everything he did, knowingly and unknowingly, and asked him for the same forgiveness.

OK, maybe not. If I had encouraged others to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, it might have passed over into the Hoary Netherworld of All Things Trite. ;)

What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying I can't argue tactfully? You think I'm testy--is that it? Now, listen here, you discombobulated onychophagic son of a malodorous pachyderm herder... ;)
