Happy 2000000!
Oh, those are sad pictures! My eggplant and pepper plants are being eaten by something. My husband will have to Dust them before we leave for the beach, or there will be nothing left when we get back.
Canteloupes are a total loss. Maybe it was just too cold for them to germinate here.
I see that we are reaffirming one the principles of Undead Thread: that our ongoing association takes precedence over our differences of opinion.
I sometimes find, when I’m out in the rest of FR, a person I know from here saying something with which I disagree. And I say to myself, “What would I gain by arguing this point with this person? Nothing!”
As HK has said (paraphrasing), if things really fall apart, as some think they will in the near-to-mid term, it will be extremely important for us to be able to form alliances based on fundamentals, while sacrificing our urge to be proved Right about a lot of things.
And as “Babylon 5,” that prophetic commentary on our times, reminds me, some people who seem now to be untrustworthy will prove otherwise when the spit really starts to fly.
Do not be discouraged. It is still early in the season.
It always is.
I do not get discouraged ... and when I do, I have some cayenne pepper pills to put things in perspective.
The last time I grew canteloupes was in Corpus Christi, Texas ... a totally different climate.
I just noticed a very pretty new orchid blossom. The blooms can last 3 months, so I hope the catz don’t eat it while we’re at the beach.
:throws hat in through door:
OK. My two-cents’ worth on the rifts and divisions and hard feelings.
Yesterday (or the day before) the talk was about forgiveness. In order to stay united in the growing dissention around us, it would seem we need to overlook (forgive) petty disagreements and concentrate instead on what we all have in common.
Differences are what make us who we are. However, we ALL originally came to the Undead Thread because it represented a haven from the insanity of the polarized majority of FReepers. We found a common bond in building the Castle and adding to it as we found a need or desire.
We now talk less about the Castle and it’s environs and workings than we do about the Astroid Belt that we can’t seem to get out of.
Perhaps we should once again focus on the things that brought us together, rather than on the things that are determined to tear us apart. No one is perfect. But we made the Castle and surrounds a comfortable respite from the World, and I think we should use it to the best advantage: Bringing us all back together in commonalities, rather than segregating and insulating us according to our feelings and/or statements in minor disagreements.
We’ve always respected everyone for what they have to offer, and we have voiced differing opinions, but seldom have we ever had major rifts. Let’s not start now. The Castle is in disrepair for lack of use, and we need to get it cleaned up and back into good working order, lest our orbit begin to decay.
And that’s the way I see it.
Excellent points. I’m vacuuming some disused (except by catz) corners right now. Wednesday has really been shedding!
We had a Cat Guest last night. DP and I were watching TV when we heard a crash and feline shrieking. I thought something had fallen over on Wednesday or Shannon, but then I found Wednesday in the schoolroom window, howling at a cat out on the sidewalk. The crash was Wednesday trying to break through the window screen!
Then Shannon turned up to wail, too, and it got really loud. I was afraid Wednesday would have an Accident on the windowsill, so I put the window down :-).
LOL!
Beware The Watch Cat! Just guarding her territory! (She needs a hug from Auntie ‘Face!)
She would bite you.
I found a turtle the other day and almost brought it home, but it was pretty big, about 6” long. It was sitting on someone’s driveway in the sun - guess it got confused looking for a pond. I took it to the stream.
Sounds like Wednesday has assumed the roll of turf enforcement...
It's not happy times here and it's not just FR, but at least there's the UT.
She’s a mean old cat.
Now I have to work on packing the children’s things for vacation! DP took Anoreth and Bill to get their hair cut. He’ll shave the other boys in the back yard.
Yepper. The UT is a restful place.
Break’s over: Now let’s get back to work!
;o]
*blush*
BWA-HA-HA-hahahahaha!
That WAS funny. But I’m glad it wasn’t posted here! LOL!
LOL! That must have been hysterical. (I thought Kasparov was dead, though.)
Making progress on the packing, but as usual I’m finding things in the drawers that haven’t been washed lately. At least I’ve got everyone’s bathing suits.
It was Bobby Fisher that died.
Thanks. At least I remembered some chess-playing guy died.
sion, I downloaded that restoration URL you gave me, but when I clicked on it, after it was downloaded, it didn’t open. *sigh*
I tried the “System Restore” on the computer, but it couldn’t bring it up, either. :o[
HK, I’ll have to wait on the purchase of the site you recommended, but I DID keep the URL!
Thanks to both of you. *HUG-HUG*
