One of the boys in my Sunday School class had his birthday today, too. I have a step-nephew with the same as well. His sister's is the same as my grandfather's, two days earlier. I worked it out -- it was about 44 years ago I identified this day as a day to note. (Can you tell I'm an engineer?)

Ready when you are.
Try to not terrify the waitress this time. Um. Can you pick a place with bolder waitresses then (bagpipe-friendly)? Or how about waiters? (I'm tired of waiting in the kinds of places that have "waitpersons" or "waitstaff.") *\;-)

I learned that origin from a commercial, of all things. They said it came out of the civil war era. Sounds plausible enough.

If you're going to craft an urban legend, by all means make it sound plausible.
[blather + dialectal skite, a contemptible person (from Middle English skite, diarrhea, from Old Norse sktr, excrement, from skta, to defecate; see skei- in Indo-European roots).]
And then there's ...
[Middle English shitten, probably from Old English -sciten (as in besciten, covered with excrement), past participle of *sctan, to defecate; see skei- in Indo-European roots.]

Whoa! We just had a HUGE gust of wind blow through (scary watching those 150-200' cedars whip back & forth), and suddenly the rain is gone, the sky is blue and the sun is out. We had some gusts here in Auburn, too, but all is quiet.
Happy Easter, Everyone!
He is risen!

Good morning! I’ve been awake for a while, but had laundry, baby-stuff, and hanging out to do :-). Anoreth wants to go to the Western store to look for cowboy boots and a hat.

I love Western stores. Since LV is host to the NRF, we have quite a few of them here, though I think they are overpriced.
When we were growing up, most department stores had the same things for less. Maybe not in much variety, but still....

I have The Slows again today, and may get nothing done, even though I had several things planned. *sigh*

We’re not going to find much in a department store here, and there are a couple of Western stores nearby. Very popular with our Mexican residents :-).
Anoreth has giant feet, like mine, so she’ll probably need men’s boots.

I was going to go to church, too, and I just couldn’t get moving on it. Some days, it’s all I can do to get out of bed, let alone take a shower and everything that goes with it.

Showers are overrated. You can just lie on the sofa and let your catz wash your face :-).
I took Anoreth, Sally, and Pat to church at 8:00 a.m. yesterday, and it was packed. I can’t imagine what the mobs were like for the 10:00 and 12:00 services (two at each hour, one in the sanctuary and one in the hall.) The parking was ghastly at 8:00.

I often buy men’s boots for the added width, though it’s often difficult to find them in the smaller sizes. I inherited my dad’s wide foot, but my mother’s narrow heel, so buying shoes that actually fit is difficult at best. When buying heels, I opt for sling backs.

Yah...I agree on the showers, but sometimes...well...
We stagger our church meetings, and limit the number of people for each section. When the numbers grow too large, we build another meeting house and split the membership accordingly.
Of course, I realize that isn’t always an option, but it’s how we deal with growth.
