I read some of the spoilers, this should be an interesting season.
That idol she found was ONLY good for the first show. She is certifiable.
At least I think it was for the first show, but maybe it was for the first tribal council for each tribe.
But oh, cuz, would that were so.
I’ll predict that “Poverty” is the next one to go for Favorites (break up the couples and she’s worthless in challenges).
All I kept thinking last week was - uh, guys? You need a fifth? Uh, her name’s CERIE? Uh, Fairplay? Why in the wide world of sports would you want that idiot Fairplay? I have a feeling Cerie did come on board with them but it wasn’t shown because it would have created no drama. I just can’t see her aligning with the couples, being the smart player she is and knowing they’d boot her at F5 minimum; although probably as soon as they had the majority.
Of course, I think the non-couple alliance was worried about a tie if anything.
Jill - the trouble, of course, is no matter how Just Peachy Probst tries to spin in, James for all his strength and build wasn’t much of a challenge monster. I think he won zero individual immunities and seemed to not care if his team started losing.
But lovely to look at. I just can’t picture him with Parvati. Just EWWWW - the woman’s a skank.
Wouldn’t it be ironic, though, if Joel, for all his size, wasn’t that much of a challenge monster either, so that he and James would make a good competitive match anyway?
But Jeff will sure be excited! He totally Loved James, totally LOVED Ozzy, even to the point of minimizing Yul on his season (calling Yul out for leaving Jonathan’s hat for him after he was voted off as an effort to score points for votes, when in fact no one would have known it was Yul who left the hat if Peachy didn’t mention it). Just Peachy wanted Ozzy to win.
However, Jeffy gets points for his ill-concealed contempt for Fairplay last week. He really and truly hates him and actually has him barred from Survivor events.
Most of the new players are stupid. Joel is stupid. Is there some rule that if you’re big you have to be a dummy?
The four love birds screwed up big time. All pun intended.
Hatch was big, and he was pretty smart.
In the game, anyway. Not with his taxes.
Okay, after seeing the end of the episode (15 minutes ago for me), Joel doesn’t seem that dumb - his plan did work. I still don’t like him, though, because he’s arrogant and power-hungry.
I don’t really like most of the fans, either. Joel and Mikey are trying to take control too early, Erik’s an arrogant moron (like Mr. Ice Cream Scooper can go toe-to-toe with Ozzy), Kathy’s a loudmouthed moron, and Chet just plain sucked in the challenge today and worse, made excuses instead of owning up to it.
Tracy, Jason, and Alexis seem okay. Natalie - I think I’ve heard exactly one line out of her. She could become this season’s “Anonymous Jenn” if she keeps it up.
Goodbye, Mary, we hardly knew ye. But BLINDSIDED! NICE! NOW THAT’S HOW YOU VOTE SOMEBODY OUT! Loved the look of shock on Mikey’s face - and the arrogant smirk on Joel’s.
Rooting mostly for Yau-Man and Cirie now.
I’m about to pull my hair out. As fans shouldn’t they know the metal match has the flint - but the REST of the match is magnesium?
Scrape a few flakes off the back into a pile, place some small tinder above it and then strike the flint down into the magnesium chips.
I have to admit I didn’t know about the magnesium flakes myself. But I find the whole “let’s make fire” exercise boring every season. Even if you didn’t wear glasses, bring a pair anyway. They make fire!!
Actually, I thought Mikey B’s plan was pretty well thought out - guys vote for Chet, women for Tracy. Of course, what surprises me is that because their fans, I’m surprised these guys are forgetting the Playskool/Oldskool Africa rule - be very, very careful about isolating members of your tribe - it could come back to bite you in the behind later. While I don’t necessarily think they’ll do a fan/fave tribe switch (it would defeat the premise of the season), it’s what allowed Boran to pick off Samburu in Season 3 after the merge. And let’s not forget Shii-Ann - the only thing that did her in in Thailand was the non-merge. And if Kathy/Chet/Tracy are still around at the merge, they’ll be happy to align with the faves because even if they can’t win, they’ll make darn sure that YOU don’t.
Use the blade of a pocket knife to shave a bit of the magnesium off the back into a pile on something study, put some tinder above it and off to one side, set the corner of the metal match on the study item at about a 45% angle with the flint side up and pointing down into the tinder.
Use the back/flat side of the blade and run it quickly down the flint and the sparks will jump down into the magnesium setting off the tinder. The key is having good tinder - the rest is easy.
Get one and play with it in your back yard. The first season of Survivor I took my little girls (about 7 at the time) out in the back yard and taught them how to do it. Had little burnt spots all over the yard. Momma was a little POed when she got home. They think it’s a neat trick.
I am the clumsiest person in the world, really.
If I got one of those and practiced in my backyard, we would be looking at the Small Town Americana version of the Great Chicago Fire.
That could come to backfire on Joel, if his tribe discovers that he didn’t vote for Mary himself after he was the one to engineer the whole plan to get her out. Of course, this is assuming that he didn’t tell the tribe beforehand that he personally wasn’t planning to vote for Mary.
I’ll say this for Joel, though - he’s not afraid to take risks.
OK, I give you the point on Joel being the author of Mary’s demise. I was overreacting to the arrogance. Truth is, Chet and Kathy scream “vote me out”. Not sure how Tracy got lumped in with them by the others. She had to hook up with them because she was already on the outs. As far as I can tell, the only thing she did was build shelter why the others were running around whining about the fact no one was doing anything. Duh!
I think Tracy might be a good player but she’s already a target with no alliance. If she is smart, she’ll go to Mikey and make him see that Joel has his number — unless he forms an alliance with her and Kathy.
I don’t like Joel’s arrogance either, but I’m glad he got rid of Mary. She and Mikey were becoming yet another couple and this show has too many of them already.
