Tom Glavine knows all about it.

Francona is to blame here. Who sends out a starter in the 6th inning who's thrown 98 pitches? He leaves him in after the double and then let's him walk the next batter.

Now we get Timlin.....

Giambi is a friggen disaster in the field.

6-2 Sox.

3:20 so far and it is not even the end of the 6th inning.

With respect to the New York Yankee bullpen...it pretty much sucks.

The 6th inning took 54 minutes to play.

Ours isn’t looking so hot now. What an absolute disaster of a performance by Okijima....

A-Rod will be coming up with men in scoring position and that’s even if Papelbon can get the next two outs with no fly balls.

Let’s call it for what it is...

The Yankees are a better team than the Sox. They can put up runs in a hurry and we simply cannot. Our big innings mostly consist of singles, walks and the odd extra base hit with crappy at bats mixed in by Tek, Drew, Crisp and Lugo along the way.

If the Sox cannot do better then getting swept in NY then coming back to Boston and coughing up 6 runs in the 8th with their best relievers then they simply don’t deserve to go far in the play-offs.

Well, the Sox did had 2 big comebacks themselves this week against Tampa. First the game that Tampa was up 8-1 in the 4th, then Ortiz’z walk off homer in the 9th. Had the D-Rays had any kind of a bullpen, the Red Sox lead would be 2.5 games right now. I must admit that after J.D. Drew got on base to lead off the 9th, I was convinced Mariano was gonna blow the save. But he didn’t. Oh well. GO YANKEES!!!

I’ll give credit where credit is due. Playoff teams come back, not give up the lead with their best relievers. Drew got on base but Jason VeriteKKKKK whiffs again (40% whiff rate in the past month), no Manny to pinch hit and a rookie has to deliver vs the Gold Standard of closers.

Gagne and Okijima have given the Yankees 5 games in standings the past month.

ESPN sucks.

In the 9th, the first strike against Tek was clearly a bad call. The 2nd strike was up in his eyes above the strike zone that he swung at.

The count at that point should've been 2 - 0...

I totally agree with your assessment, misterrob. I don't think our Sox are going to go very far in the post-season...
