I saw them open up for Jeff Beck in Toronto. Never a really big fan and thought the music was both bubble gum and pretentious. Now I actually teach one of my students the More Than A Feeling song and I have a bit more of an appreciation for the band because of that song with its sundry chord changes. It's a perfect pop song in all its glory and I respect the craft that went into making it.

I believe Boston's debut album was the first LP that was mixed specifically for its sound on the FM dial.

I have heard that the demo tape mixed by Tom Scholz in his basement with Bradley, Barry and Sib which was presented to Epic was the very mix that was pressed to vinyl and played on air.

I'm bumming hard:( When I was a kid in the 70's, I joined my very first band because of that song. We even played it live in our 8th grade talent show, lol. I played their first 2 records over and over again, pretty much drove my family insane too, lol. Those guys and Kiss are pretty much the main reason I ever got into the music biz in the first place.
Boston was my very first rock concert I ever saw,,,March 24th, 1979 at the University of Dayton Arena...Sammy Hagar opened up for them, was amazing. It was on their "Don't Look Back" tour, and they were fantastic. Both Delp and Scholz were Beatles fans, and it showed in their music, they took the best of what the Beatles had, and made it their own. In fact, I daresay, Boston was "the Beatles" of my generation. And Tom Scholz was the Les Paul of the same generation. I can still close my eyes, and drift away, and I'm right there in my seat in the nosebleed section, lol.
IMO, Delp was one of the greatest singers in the biz...and I can't help but note that, those guys weren't a bu.ch of out control rocks tars,,,if they were, they had a good PR agent who kept that stuff out of the spotlight, haha. And their music was always positive, was always a message of hope, etc, as corny as it may sound. Several of their songs got me through many troubled teen-aged times, and a few adult times as well. Yeah, that band in Heaven just got more kick ass. here's to ya, Brad:) *raising my beer in salute*

That's too bad. Luckily, I got to see Boston, one of my favorite bands, several years ago. Brad had to have a backup singer help him hit those high notes, but he and the boys put on a helluva show.

It was the first album I bought when I got my own turntable, with am/fm radio and cassette. My best friend Keith had it on 8-track, so we could listen to it in his tricked out '69 Chevy Impala.
Damn, I feel old.

Just got on the net tonight and saw this. Had to do a search because I knew there had to be some fans here.

First album I ever purchased was Boston. I have bought probably 6 copies over the years (Tape, CD etc.) Music for good times and not so good as well...

RIP Brad, yours was a unique voice in the industry...

We're getting old guys. I'm certain that the younger generation are yawning and rolling their eyes.

I dunno about that. My kids (and their girlfriends) listen to some weird stuff but I turned them on to Boston about 5 or 6 years ago. They loved it.

But now they also listen to Foreigner, Bad Company, Stray Cats and others.

I never remember liking any of my folk's music.
