A contract attorney is a lawyer who works on legal cases on a contract basis. Contract attorneys are rarely found outside of large metropolitan areas and are mainly concentrated in Washington, DC, New York, and Philadelphia. Their work is of a contingent work nature.
Although the work of contract attorneys may vary, the job often entails the reviewing of documents in response to a subpoena or in accordance with an investigation. When a subpoena is received by a defendant/respondent, or an investigation is initiated, there are often millions of pages of documents to be categorized and produced. These documents must also be evaluated for any privileged status, including attorney-client privilege and attorney work product. The contract attorney will be hired on a contract basis to evaluate these materials. Each document must be thoroughly reviewed, making this very time consuming work.
Contract attorneys also perform legal research and draft legal briefs.
Some people who hold juris doctor degrees, but who are awaiting bar admission, work as temporary professionals in law firms doing the same type of work as contract attorneys.
Contract attorneys are rarely hired as full-time, law firm employees and normally work for temporary employment agencies. As such, once a case ends, contract attorneys are usually discharged and assigned to other projects. Due to the contingent nature of their work, contract attorneys enjoy flexible work schedules which allow them to pursue entrepreneurial and creative endeavors, often as business owners, sole practitioners, writers, and advocates.

I don't know at first glance. On the Islands, there is often just a handful of prominent surnames and some of the people are closely related, some are very distantly related and some, through the generations, have decided not to be related at all - even though, secretly, in reality, they are.
I'll withhold answering until I can take a closer look. FWIW, the Maynard family name is more prominent than the Gibson name.
I just found this website. Warning...adult language!

The Bahamas has diplomatic relations with Cuba, including embassies in each others capitals. A repatriation agreement was signed with Cuba in 1996, and there are commercial and cultural contacts between the two countries. The Bahamas also enjoys a strengthening relationship with China. The Commonwealth of The Bahamas became a member of the United Nations in 1973 and the Organization of American States in 1982.
The United States and The Bahamas also actively cooperate on law enforcement, civil aviation, marine research, meteorology, and agricultural issues.
"Entertainment Tonight" is making my blood boil. I never watched the show until now, but they sure side with HKS.

I guess Howie has his camera ready....
This lumpy head ME is just a tad too in love with his media attention. If one of the embalmers had made these statements about ANS' body, they would be in big trouble. Guess the new media darling didn't have to sign any confidential agreement.
Fox News is going to have a report from the Bahamas...coming up..
I just know you'll all solve this crime.
If anyone is interested, I found this....a website following the litigation involving ANS and the estate of J. Howard Marshall
http://www.FactWeb.net
Did everyone see this? Taken from the Marshall website...
http://www.factweb.net/SternReprimand.htm
From the site: July 22, 2006
Mr. Hardin said the court soon will be notified that Elaine Marshall is now the estate representative.
And that could create the chance of a settlement, said Kent L. Richland, one of Ms. Smith's attorneys.
"in July 06 so not long ago"
I copied Rte66 - for atty Richland's name. He was ANS' attorney as recently as 7/06. Don't know if he is still involved.
We'll soon find out if he was fired or retained...by Mr. Stern.
very interesting....judge in Calif. rules in ANS favor after looking at her Playboy centerfold??? Oh my.....and sleazy HKS stealing documents. I wonder if the state bar in Calif. did anything about it? Probably not....
Seems the Texas jury sanctioned ANS for lying. So, she claimed bankruptcy in Calif. and the court there awarded her millions?? Is that insane or what?? Did the 9th circus actually get one right?? Not according to the supremes....ACK!!
That's when Pierce Marshall died, IIRC.
E. Pierce Marshall died June 20, 2006
Time for THE LIST!!!!!
THIS thread has not been so much about the Tabloid Anna Nicole Smith, but the legal crises surrounding;
The death of a son - about to reach his majority (age 21)of undetermined manner and cause. Could be homicide.
The birth of a daughter - whose paternity and custody is in question - who may also have been born addicted to illegally obtained prescription drugs.
The premature, undetermined death of the infant's mother -could be homicide, suicide or misadventure.
Conspiracy to access a $1.6billion estate and eliminate per stirpes heirs.
Conspiracy by lawyers and foreign government officials to circumvent immigration laws for fraudulent purposes.
Intent to defraud owners of real property and real estate.
Illegal transportation of prescription drugs, by interstate and international waters.
Potential kidnapping of a US citizen.
Creation and presentation of fraudulent documents to avoid parental and custodial rights.
WE SHOULD ALL BE TERRIFIED THAT THESE SAME LAWYERS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND JUDGES COULD PUT ALL OF US IN JEOPARDY.
A REVIEW OF ALL THE "LEGAL" RULINGS TO DATE SHOULD REMIND US TO NEVER LEAVE OUR AFFAIRS IN THE HANDS OF LAWYERS OR JUDGES.
CAN I BE #9000?
