Nifong knew his target audience. Otherwise he could have just picked any 3 fellows on that team since, presumably, everybody who goes to Duke is "rich" (at least by local standards).

It's no big secret that the vast majority of Duke students are from the northeast. That is true of the Lacrosse team as well.

I'm not convinced Nifong did the picking, he just stacked the deck by making the list only LAX players. By the time she could pick, it was easy enough to do research on the guys. She picked the richest guy and the guy with a record.

But I think it was her newly-found "people" who told her who to pick.

There is no reason to suppose she picked anyone deliberately. We have no evidence to support it. It is simply enough that Nifong allowed her to pick from a line up of simply LAX players, the majority of whom were at the party.

Her specific choices are more than coincidental. She even managed not to pick from the not insignificant number of players that was not out of town.
