Good for you! I need to get a little of that back. I didn't used to be such a quivering rabbit.

I get worse as I get older for some reason. I don't want to be that worriesome little (well not so little) old lady!

Well, I just worried about that part. If they decided to try to strike each other and someone got hurt, I’d have really regretted it.

It IS plugged in!

It's a padded sheepskin heated pet bed. Believe it or not they sell them . . . Thermo Kitty Bed . . . orthopedic foam pad and all.

It just doesn't illuminate their eyes . . .

OK, my pledge is NOT to become a worriesome little old lady. You can tell me when I am headed down the WLOL path!

My Lab’s breeder says that if she’s reincarnated, she wants to come back as one of my animals.

Yikes, I’m sorry to hear about Harley between the shoes and the cut. I thought he lost two? What was he doing, tap dancing? :-)

Mine don't have it too rough either... I just found them all lounging in the "loafing shed".

"Man, we have it really rough... There isn't as much bedding in here as there used to be"

I will go back and read all the posts addressed to me later...no time now...

I just got back from an emergency visit to the vet...that little cut on Harley...well I took the boys fishing this morning and when I came home up the drive I noticed him standing there with a lot of blood on the ground. I went out there to see what was going on and he had about a 6 inch arch of blood spraying out of the cut non-stop. It was really rather cool looking, but I knew I wouldn’t get that stopped. There was not large volumes coming out, so I knew he wasn’t going to bleed to death too quick:).

Anyway, the vet couldn’t reach the vein he had cut, so she had to stitch it, and put a pressure wrap on it. She thinks that will take care of it, I just have to watch. A little seepage thru the wrap is OK, she just said to make sure if the whole thing gets soaked to bring him back. I have to go get some penecillin now...always something.

It was pretty stressful because I had to load the horse’s and the boys all to go:), Jenny met me there to take the boys. We went all wet and dirty from being at the creek...the vet and her husband was laughing at the way we looked:)

Oh yikes. I sure hope that holds. Dang.

And here I am worrying about loading my horse alone to go on a ride when there’s no emergency.

I wish I had thought to get a picture of the blood spraying out, it was cool, but pictures was the last thing I was thinking of....

I don’t have a problem going alone, it was just having the boys...the only thing I forgot was my purse so I could pay:), but she knows I’m good. I’m heading over there now to pay her, then to town to take the boys to eat. By the time I get home I should know if the bleeding is stopped. she said it was really nothing serious, the cut is minor, no problem with the coronet band, it did cut all the way thru it, thank goodness...It was just where it was at every step he took would keep that vein open. I asked her if it would have ever stopped on it’s own and she said no, so I made the right decision to take him. When I called her I had hoped she could just come here, but she had other horses coming in.

Anyway, I’ll talk to you all later, cross your fingers for him that it stops.

Well, I ~guess~ I understand you not thinking of us and pictures when your horse is bleeding. Glad you could get him in there. When you change the dressing, maybe we can get pictures then? ;~)

I guess when I first started hauling by myself, I hadn’t the sense to know all the things I should have worried about...I was like Bob, I just went on blind faith that since other people hauled with no problem I could.

My biggest concern is like Blade, I worry more about a break down, flat tire, then anything.

As far as hauling two horses together that doesn’t know each other...if it was me, I’d do it, but I wouldn’t let them stand long to see what they were going to do...put them in and go. They are too busy standing then worrying each other. Tie short too so they can’t nose each other. They may have squealed...I have seen them do that, but I think it would take an odd circumstance for them to be able to strike each other, with a divider between them.

I really don’t think there will be much to see now with it all stitched. The thread was about the same color as his hair, and it’s hard to see. I’m suppose to leave the wrap on 3 days if it holds up that long. There was still blood running out the bottom of the cut but it had slowed a lot. The wall in my trailer that he was beside is all sprayed with blood, and there was enough to be running down the mats by the time I got there.

I was very pleasantly surprised too, when I went back to pay...$75. She sedated him, number the foot, sewed it up, and gave him a big shot of bute to controll swelling, plus gave me some powdered bute to give him over the next few days. That didn’t seem bad at all to me. It was an emergency visit too, but I don’t think she added for that even tho there were others waiting who had appointments.

Thanks Beaker, so far so good. It doesn’t appear to be coming thru the wrap, so hopefully it won’t. I’m keeping him up in his run to cut down on movement.
