It may be raining anyway. We are under a flood warning but the rain all looks to the North (right now).

I just got a letter from a zoo I support. I’m invited to go on a safari in southern Africa. Just 6,750 dollars each. Where’s my checkbook?. (It does look like fun though)

Cool. If I find an extra $6750 I’ll send it your way. Although I wouldn’t enjoy a safari or anything else in Africa, from what I’ve heard from others they are lots of fun. Something about Africa gives me chills down the back - past life memory maybe :)

A safari would be ok. I couldn't be cooped up in plane that long though.

We may be fixing to get some bad weather if this line doesn't shift a bit. It is thundering and lightening big time but not a breeze to be had. The sky is that kind of green color. They have already spotted one Tornado, north of us tonight.

Tracey sent me some pictures of Jossey. She just started working her on a lunge, carrying a saddle. She's turned into a beautiful horse. :)

So far we have been in the window. It’s gone above or below. Nice sky show though. Josey is very pretty.

Good Morning and Happy Independence Day!

Duchess, Josey looks great!

Stay safe, Cindy! Storms are predicted this afternoon. Kids are at a horse show. I don't know if I want to take a chance and drive for an hour, then get rained out.

Hahaha, yes I saw that thread, and got out my popcorn. Stupid stupid stupid. I really DO think that most of the posters there are 10-17. I lurk, but won't join.

Look at that! She is VERY pretty! And she seems to be carrying the saddle without too much fuss.

Good morning.

Duchess, nice horse.

We had fireworks too, Harley ran around a bit...and this morning he is missing two shoes:(...with all this rain and mud, I can’t really blame the farrier. He is scheduled to be reshod on the 12. I may call and see if he can come sooner, but I don’t know if I’m going to be up to riding anyway. Feeling pretty yucky this morning due to pain meds and antibiotic’s...then next week I have to have two teeth pulled:(. I have two right together that have abscessed.

I would never be without an EasyBoot. When we trail ride, I have one in the saddle bag along with all my other junk (first aid kit, Leatherman, Altoids . . . < g > )

They fit Gracie really, really well. She cast a shoe a couple of weeks ago and the farrier couldn't get there -- it was her soft foot (the white one) and I just left it on for a couple of days. It worked great and kept her hoof from being damaged -- when she loses a shoe she splits the hoof and great chunks come off even when she's just standing around in the paddock. I didn't work her hard but we did a little arena jumping and it never moved. Didn't seem to bother her or make her move funny either.

And then I had no problem getting it off at all. It was a little fiddly getting the wire adjusted just right, but apparently her hoof was made for the things. She has a smallish oval foot in back . . . .

Oh man.... so sorry about your mouth. ~shudder~

And the shoes....

We kept ours in the paddock... they startle at some of the noises in there, but they don’t run. I think they’d run more in the pasture, and I don’t like them running at night.

Bob wants me to go on a trail ride Friday... to mark trail for the same organized ride as we’ve done before... Without Bruce! I haven’t done that since Bruce got here. I have a lot of reasons to not want to, but I told him I’d talk to him today.

Will you have to haul by yourself and take one of your horses? Good luck with the fireworks and the animals.

We have been having a troublesome raccoon around here. First they were getting in the barn and eating cat food. Now, they have been taking my bird and suet feeders down. Last night I awoke in the wee hours, went into the kitchen and heard the garbage can hit the ground. I went out through the garage and turned on the outside light, opened the door and there the little booger was. Three of my cats were out there with him..lol He just walked off. Cats didn't seem to mind him a bit.

It has been so dry here, they are probably looking for food. He had tipped over the dog's water bowl too. We have a live trap and already one has been caught and released. I tell the kids, you just can't leave any food laying around.
