No, you didn’t...congratulations!
Will he work from home, or go to an office?
Becky
He has to go into an office.... In ~town~ :~0
Oh, which town?
You missing him yet:)?
Well, just moping around here watching it cloud back up. I’ll be heading to town later to watch the people at the Festival. I already had a confrontation yesterday with a couple of the carnies...I know at my age I shouldn’t be surprised by stuff like this, but it still surprises me and really pi$$e$ me off how inconsiderate people can be.
I pulled up there yesterday, and two long trucks and trailers and parked in the road totally blocking the driveway into our parking lot....There are businesses in that building, how were customers suppose to get in...geez...I was hot. One of the truck owners was actually over at the hamburger place eating...for heavens sake. You know if they just stopped there for a minute to unload something, that’s one thing, But to park and leave....
The people I talked to knew I was hot, and went and got him, by which time I was already over at the police dept. finding out what I could do legally....I didn’t know if I was going to get myself in trouble:)...but I did find out it is against the law to block ANY driveway. The police man told me that if it happened again, I should not confront the offender but call the police...yeah right:). I’d probably do both:)
Becky
Heh... You sound a little like my mother there, getting in a trucker’s face :~D Us kids were always shrinking back goin’... aw... geeze, mom!
I’m keeping myself busy... ecurbh asked what I’d do all day by myself, I said... “I dunno, walk around naked”! He said “Unfair!” Heh.
I’ve been out playing with the pony. Her eye is fine today. Dunno why it looked so bad yesterday, but I’m tempted to leave it alone. No sense risking poking her eye out if I don’t have to. So we went out and played with that log.
Pics in a minute... of course :~)
He said Unfair! Heh.
LOL
I've very glad Pony's eye is better. I'd leave it alone too. If it's not broke...ya know:)
Pics in a minute... of course :~)
Funny, I have some to post too:)...My property is looking so nice, IMO, anyway, that I've been going out there a lot and wondering around. Last night I took a few pictures. This one kind of gives you an idea of how long the pastures are. This is taken from the back fence line. You can't see the whole length of our property, which is actually 660 feet long, but this shows Harley's pasture.
And these next two, are just to give you an idea of what the land looked like before we did any clearing...the trees were as thick as the ones in this picture all over the 5 acres, and most of the ground was covered in the rocks like in the second picture.
Becky
It sure looks green and lush now! I can’t wait to see it... I’ve never had a good feeling for how your land is laid out from the pictures. Probably like when you came here, and said you always thought the back forty was bigger. I have a feeling I’ve always thought your pastures are smaller than they really are, since we’ve always seen mostly the paddock areas and the arena.
... So what have you done with all the rocks?... is there a big pile of them somewhere? They do look just like the rocks people buy here to make rock walls and stepping stones out of ;~)
A lot of the rocks we have hauled to the back outside of our fence. But I’ve also posted a picture before of the big pile that is out in my pasture that came from the arena and where the house and yard sit.
Our land is a perfect rectangle. 330X660, along the whole length of one side is the county line road...it’s not developed, it’s the road I ride on to go back up on my trails. The shop, arena, and Harley’s pasture run along that side. The house sits catycorner on the other side. When you come in the drive you pass the shop, and it curves all the way around the house and back out to the road. The house and yard are the only think inside the circle of the drive, everything else is on the other side of it. The pastures and barn sit probably about a third of the way into the rectangle. The back of our house faces the road...we want to look at what we owned from the front of the house. The barn probably sits in the middle of the width, and Rocky’s pasture, runs the length of the other side of from the county line road....The back corner of his pasture is where the woods still are, and where there are still all those rocks to pick up. Probably won’t ever happen now:)....I just can’t do it anymore.
The land between the road and the house and shop we did not clear and I don’t mow it anymore either...Where Rocky was running in those pictures the other day. We like for it to grow thick, it makes a nice screen from the road. Doesn’t look like much from the road, but as you come up the drive and all the cleared land, house and barn, arena and fence, come into view it’s really nice, and takes a lot of people by surprise. Most people think more land then just 5 acres.
But hey, we’ve been here 26 years...it should look like something:)
Becky
Well, I look forward to seeing it in person :~)
Pony sizing up the log...
It's a real tight space in there, but I was able to set her up to sortof lunge back and forth, and eventually, all the way around. She's so nimble and maneuverable. I wouldn't have tried this with the big horses. Not enough room, and tangle sticks if they get off track.
Starting out with a hop over the 'low' end.
And back...
And then the high end. These are shooting toward the 'sun', so they over exposed a little, but ~look~ at this gal jump!
And that's in hand, without a lot of room to get well set up. The more times she went over, the higher she jumped... she really likes it ;~)
Wow! She really looks good! There’s a lotta heart in that little body.
Wow!!! That is so cool. And now I know her size, that is incredible, because she is not a very big horse at all.
Becky
She’s fun... but what do I do with her? :~)
OH, I don’t know - breed her to a zebra? :)
LOL - and then what would I do with that? :~)
I don’t think it would be much more than a pasture ornament but it would be a conversation starter :)
But I already have a pasture ornament ;~)
True :)
Hey 2J, you coming to the Green Corn Festival?
If so stop by and see us, we are down in our building, will be most of the weekend.
Becky
Hi Beaker, Just a little dry here this Spring. Last week I attended a livestock sale an hour’s drive away. There was a field of corn on the way that had only grown about 12 inches since it had been planted. Corn is normally planted by Good Friday. So far it has not been a good year for agriculture. Hope you are having a much better year there.
The problem is that there is standing water over the lateral lines and the tank. Apparently, that causes problems with flushing. We have just had so much rain the past few days that it has nowhere to go so is just sitting in puddles in the back yard.
If you know where your tank and lateral lines are, check to see if there is a lot of water there. It can be fixed, according to the FIL, by bringing in fill material and raising the ground over the tank and lateral lines.
Our house is in no danger of flooding. But, the horses and I are tired of slogging through mud everywhere.
