They are pretty nasty looking, but I was thinking, I’ve seen them in a lot of the horses eyes, and never thought anything about them, since their eyes weren’t running or anything.
So did Pony’s eyes start running today?
Becky
LOL.
Becky
Pony’s one eye started with the nasty goop just today.
Well, I guess since we’re not riding, we’ll go cut up that tree.
Me either!! The toilets are getting to where they won’t flush good (we are on septic) and Henkell is bored out of his gourd!!
I haven’t been able to ride or work the horses for over a month. Before it can dry out enough to ride, it rains again. I am glad the drought is over but geez, enough is enough!
I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you were getting through this mess. I hear it’s even worse down in the hill country, I wonder how squarebarb is doing.
Oh gosh, I’m worried about my toilets now. We are on septic, too.
Hi, Not much help myself. vetvetdoug is the expert. There is also a saddle making business called “Border States Leather Works.” At one time they were online and had lots of information on saddles and cavalry horsemanship.
We had a nice shower yesterday and more is predicted for today. Cooled the temps off and we did need the rain. Sorry to you Texas people. We were like that last year. Lots of rain and cool temps.
Hair, to me it looks like something has irritated the eyes. Liquid eye drops or medications might be easier to put in the eye. There is a product called Clear Eyes that I have used before.
Frog, I forgot about answering you on the fly sheets. Yes, they are a tight knit weave. Light weight also.
Good morning.
Still raining...more drizzle now then rain, but rain is forecast for all day.
Becky
I've used that too with good results. It comes in a medium-sized squirt bottle and I use it more like an eye wash and just try to shoot a stream of it into the eye as best I can. I end up wasting a lot of it that way, but at least I get SOME of it in there. And it usually only takes a couple of applications for the goop to clear up. Flies and real dusty conditions seem to bring on this kind of condition in my horses, but you haven't really had either, so I don't know what might be causing it in yours.
Well DARN! You just can’t seem to get a break, and neither can I. It was storming all around me last night and I got narry a drop. :-/ And of course now that I have a nice ride planned for Saturday, they’re giving a 50% chance of rain. But hey, I don’t care. If it rains, I’ve got a poncho and I’ll have a good time anyways. Unless I get struck by lightning. ;o)
I had a mare that had that same thing, my vet said it was common in horses. It did affect her eyesight in the one eye, I wish I could remember what he said it was.
That sounds like a Washington forecast. Drizzle with increasing showers and rain by afternoon :~)
We’re having drizzle at the moment ourselves.
I didn’t get a chance to look at the pony’s eye at breakfast, it was dark... I’ll go out an look in a bit, after honey leaves for work.
Did we mention on this thread that he got a new real job? At least we hope it turns into a real job... He starts as a contractor for a couple months, permanent if that works out. First day is today.
That’s great news about the job! I’d been kinda lurking over on HH and following his job hunting adventures over there. It sounded like his stumbling upon that job advertisement by the same company that he interviewed with through the head hunter was a very fortunate thing. That head hunter got what he deserved, which was nothing, by pricing ecurbh out of the job. I sure hope it works out well.
Praying for all you getting flooded at the moment. We could use that rain here.
Congratulations on the new job :)
Yeah - I’m just glad he was able to salvage it. :~)
Hey there, Cav, thanks anyway. How have you been?
Keep reading down... The link to the horse forum... We solved that...Apparently it’s supposed to be there. I did read, when I googled around, that they can have some vision trouble if it is large or flaps around or tears... that kind of thing.
~shrugs~ I’d never seen it before.
Congrats on the job!
