LOL - it must be hotter where he’s at for him to be so nasty. I’m sorry about your commute though, that sounds miserable.

Oh, I knew this horse and his owner enough to know that he belonged there. I had looked at him back when I first started breeding the mares several years ago. He’s a registered TWH. I called the guy and left him a message on his answering machine telling him about it. He called back the next day to thank me and tell me how he got out. Seems some of the help had put him in a paddock behind the barn to get some exercise and he figured out how to open the gate. I’m sure that whoever it was got their butt chewed for it, and rightfully so.

Bummer about the eye problems. Hopefully it’ll be something that’s easily taken care of.

OK - Here's the situation with their eyes. Sorry the pics are so big, I thought the detail was important/interesting.

You know, already, that we've been treating Bay for about a week for some kind of infection in his eyes. I wish now I'd have written down what he said it was. We've been less than successful, really, in getting the goop into Bay's eyes with any kind of success. He's not real good about it, and we're not real good at it. His eye though, I thought had cleared up, till we looked closer today. It hasn't been weepy anymore. The discharge you see around his eye in the picture is the medicine which we've managed to smear all over his eye lid, hopefully getting some actually IN.

Here's what his eye looks like today: See the brown cauliflower looking stuff in there?

So I go out to catch Bay, and the pony's eye now looks like this: Sorry this pic is so gross.

You can see in the reflection that her iris also has that cauliflower growth in it.

Here's a pic of her other eye, which was not goopy, but has the same brown stuff in it.

So we go look, and Cyn's eyes look clean, but she has the same thing in her iris.

So they've all got this thing... I put a call into the vet, but he's in surgery, I think at the very least, we're going to need a much bigger tube of this medicine, and we're going to have to get much more serious about getting the stuff in the eyes better. Curiously, we treated pony's goopy eye, and she was a lot better about it than Bay is.

But I got to wondering if they can even see clearly right now... we decided not to ride.

Sounds like in addition to doing a little grading, you may want to trench and put in 4" drain and some gravel around the drip line from the roof.

Unfortunately I have a LOT of experience with drainage! (we live in a hole).

Great jump!

We had one like that on the trail at Kennesaw Mt. Nat'l Park . . . until it finally collapsed from rain and rot (and being kicked by too many horses and ponies!)

Echo that.

Not now, but don't say not ever.

Somebody will come along that needs you.

I hope the complaint bureau is open . . .

Had to take my 2 dogs first thing this morning to the trainer to board, we're going down to Kings Bay to see my son graduate from Navy Sea Cadet training. The Navy, for whatever reason, frowns on dogs. Even impeccably behaved and beautiful dogs, like mine < ha! >.

We turned them out in the kennel yard, and Ruby started trotting up and down, smelling, and getting interested in everything. Shelley is wise to this game, so she FLUNG herself on the anchor fence and began SCREAMING "Mama! No! Don't leave me!" At which point of course Ruby began flinging HERSELF on the anchor fence and screaming . . . but being the diabolically clever Ruby, took it one step further and began to dig out under the fence . . . . so we had to put them in the kennel runs. Oh, if looks could kill we'd be dead ducks . ..

On my way home I get a call from the office . . . crisis, had to go in and help clean all the $#!+ off the fan . . . . what's worse is the crisis is not of our making, it's another office that isn't doing its job . . . . the crisis of course occupied the entire day, so I missed my regular Wednesday riding lesson and afternoon jaunt . . . . I am not a very happy camper right now and I miss my puppies . . . .

< /complaint bureau >

. . . . but my husband picked up a couple of steaks and we're going to have a cookout, so I should feel better shortly . . . .

Wow, you must be getting our rain.

We haven't had a drop for days, the winter was rather dry and then the spring rains never did show up. Just a few wet warm fronts went through earlier. Haven't had any decent rain in months.

First time we’ve treated Pony was today... we’ve treated Bay for the last week or so, and it did get better in terms of visible goop.
