Oh dear... what an ordeal.
Well, the farm sitting should be more pleasant this time around... it seems it was winter and muddy when you did it before, right?
I hope he eats and does well for you while they’re gone. I’d be a little nervous taking care of him after all he’s been through! Gah! What if he colics?
Aw - I feel so bad for you... I hope you can find comfort in seeing Deuce and finding a special place on the wall for Whitey’s halter.
Hope you have a nice ride this morning.... Too late to tell you to take pictures I suppose!
Thanks. Not sure yet what we’ll do with the halter. For now it will live in the horse trailer tack compartment.
Deuce had his own western show headstall, which is very beautiful, but instead he will proudly wear Whitey’s. I’ll give Deuce’s to our trainer as a thank you for taking care of things.
I’m sure you and the rest of the gang know how hard it is to lose one. I suspect most here have gone through this. But knowing we did the best for them that we possbily could is a comfort.
Heh, I already did. Somebody’s gotta take up your slack when you sleep late. ;o)
I haven’t gone through it yet... not for a horse I love. That’s a bridge I still have to cross, and I don’t want to yet. I am sorry for you, and yes, I do think it is easier if you know you did the very best you could to give them a good life, and a good end when it needed to happen.
I guess so!
I have a friend that has a young mare that is half Fresian and half Arab. She is a beautiful bay with white stockings.
This sucker is really ticking me off. He's going to break a leg on a horse, and that will really tick me off. I've been battling him for about a month. Most mole holes are really small, not something a horse can fall into, and I usually ignore them in the pasture (the yard is another story) but this one is a big sucker. He makes holes that will easily fit a foot in.
I've been going out nearly every day and sticking the hose in the hole, flooding it if I can, and filling the holes with rocks. The next day, he has new holes right next to the old ones, and I half suspect that by giving him water, I'm actually helping him.
I want him dead. I remember my dad not having a lot of luck with traps, the moles just went around them.... are there right and wrong ways... better traps, potions, spells, anything?
We have mole problems too. My terriers are great molers but the moles have gotten smart and now dig along the fence line where the dogs cannot get to them. I have hot wire all around the bottom of my fence so the dogs cannot dig out, well the moles have taken advantage of that! Someone told me that you can get some sort of kit to attach to your exhaust pipe on your car and gas them out. We have not tried that but have tried about everything else with no success.
Holy crap! Those are enormous holes! We don’t get anything near that size.
Hmmm... I’d try anything...
The cats and dogs both attempt to go after moles that end up in the yard, and sometimes they’ve gotten them! And while that mole ticks me off too, wrecking my nice new grass, this one in the paddock is a different issue... some of these tunnels collapse and take my foot with them, I don’t want him out there with the horses. I’ll try to take a better picture when I go out there today... the holes are really big.
Oh I know about that! Several times I have stepped on a mole tunnel, they are the most aggrivating critters. We had gophers in California and I don't think they were as hard to get rid of as these ugly blind little things.
There is your moler! Terriers make great molers, mousers and ratters. They even do a pretty fair job on squirrels and rabbits too.
He’s only about 10 weeks old... he can’t concentrate on anything more than a few seconds. Maybe when he’s older :~D
Heh... He’s just a guest terrier, while some friends are traveling.
I do Earthdog tests with mine and their killer instinct does not kick in until after 6 months, some it takes closer to a year.
Well right now he is still at the vet’s, she’s never been able to bring him home yet. He could be home by the time I feed for her in 3 weeks tho. I would think he would be pretty stable by then.

Oh, and yeah, that’s why i said I’d go ahead and feed...it shouldn’t be too bad in the summer. I know I figured I would tell her no the next time she asked, but I like the money:). There’s a few pieces of tack I want:). Last time I spent the money on mack’s christmas present, this time I can spend it on me:)
Becky
No, but if you find a way, be sure to let me know what it is because I've got them all over my place too.
