We had a good ride on Saturday. We went to the place that has the real deep cliff overhang and a creek right at the base of it where you ride down the creek. I didn't get a picture of it this time, but here's one I took back in the fall, just to remind you of what it looks like...
Actually there are little creeks all over this place. It seems like every little hollow has a creek running at the bottom of it. And I found that really amazing considering that we're in the midst of a 50 year drought and are 20 inches below normal on our rainfall. One of the creek crossings had a beaver dam just below it and it had backed the water up about chest high on the horses. The camp owners said they were going to dear it down but that all the guests said they liked swimming in it so they left it alone. I should've got a picture of it but I didn't. I'm falling down on my job!
They had cut some new trails and one of them goes right by this cool little cave. It kinda reminded me of a hobbit hole so I thought you would probably like it...
Here's a picture of Shirley in the same cave. He looks like OldHermitGuy sitting at his cave entrance...
This is my other friend Kari and her champaigne walking horse, Faith...
This is Shirley and Buck walking down one of the creek beds that's part of the trail...
There weren't very many riders out there this weekend. I guess everybody stayed home because of Father's Day.
Pinging BladeRider to post 8641 for pictures of the ride at KC’s.
Love them rocks! That is a neat little cave... That’s not a bad place to call home if you were lost... or wanted ;~)
Where’s the water coming from, with the drought? Are there snowcapped peaks somewhere, or are they fed from larger rivers, or...???
In ALABAMA, in JUNE, and it's 90* in the shade?? Surely you jest. ;o)
Seriously though, they're spring fed. Water just runs out of the ground. I'd love to have just one of those springs on my place. They run all year long.
Well, that’s what I wondered! ;~)
Neat pictures Frog. Little caves like that are interesting. Know telling what all has gone on in it:)
Hair, did you go ride? Looks like i won’t today. Still Raining.
I went to town with Jenny and got a new battery for my mower, so I finally got it out of the pasture. And I got some Frontline for the dogs, so their good for awhile. Dang that stuff is expensive, but well worth it to get rid of ticks and fleas. I’ve noticed a definite drop in the tick population since I started using it. The dogs have to feel better too.
Not sure what the rest of the day holds...maybe a nap:)

We’re going riding this afternoon... The sun has come out now and it’s nice. We just gave the pony some quiet pony powder so we should be about two hours from departure.
We treated Bay’s eyes again too... I’ve decided we are just not good at drops. We forgot the last two days, and don’t do a very good job of getting it in the eye when we do try. I’m always afraid I’m going to jab him with it. But his eyes are dry now, not weeping any more, so I think the couple days we did do it have helped.
And I buted him... I think he’s better, 3 days on the Isoxuprine, but I figured insurance wouldn’t hurt. He picked up and trotted around, hassling his mares after, too soon to have been the drug, but good to see. :~)
And the lawn mower started today, so giving it time to think seems to have worked.
I thought you might enjoy this, having been here to see the volcanos :~)

30. You actually understood these jokes and will probably forward them to other PCNW residents
Hey, about the Frontline Plus, I get mine from a girl not too far from here and it’s about half of what it is from 1800PetMeds or the Vet’s. I pay $20 for the 3-pak of 45-84 pound size. The mailing fee is $5 for up to 8 boxes so if you know of somebody else that needs some you could go together and order. That’s what I did with a couple of other people here at work. I’ll e-mail you the info if you want it.
Great pictures Frog! We are hoping to be able to get up to KC’s this weekend to ride. Finally, it has been way to long since we have been able to go.
Oh, and I didn’t know if you knew it or not, but you can use the same stuff on cats. You just use .5cc for a small cat and .8cc for a large one. That’s why I buy it. I don’t have any dogs, but I get the large dog size and put it all in a dropper bottle and measure it out for all the cats. It’s MUCH cheaper that way.
Sure that would be great.
And I’ve also been meaning to tell you I’m about 1/2 way thru Outlander. I’m really enjoying it, and my daughter told me I’m just getting to the really good part:).
I messed up when I bought them for her, I bought the 1st and 3rd, so she has read them out of order. She’s about done with the 2nd now.

With all the dogs I am treating, I think the cat is doing OK without.
But I do have an interesting tidbit. Last week my DIL was telling me she woke up one morning with a tick stuck to the palm of her hand...this morning I woke up with one stuck to the bottom of my foot. The little buggers are really blood thirsty this year.
Becky
Do you reckon you'll be able to make it up there by 9 on Saturday or will y'all just shoot for Sunday? I wasn't planning on riding on Sunday since Lee will get back home Saturday evening from being in Germany on business all this week and I guess I should show him a little bit of attention. I'm sure he'll be so jet-lagged that he'll probably sleep all day anyways, but at least he won't feel like I've TOTALLY forgot about him. ;o)
I was wondering if there was any follow up needed on Rocky’s cut on his leg... did it just heal up, or are you still treating it?
Wow, I’ve never had a tick attach itself to either one of those places. I guess I figured that the skin was too thick there. He must’ve REALLY been hungry! It’s been so dry here that neither ticks nor mosquitoes have been much of a problem, so I guess there’s always an up-side to every down.
I’ll bet Jenny was kinda confused if the read them out of order, because they DEFINATELY have a chronology. I figured she’d like them if she liked historical fiction. They seemed really well researched...and the juicy parts are pretty good too. ;o) I’ll have to admit, I had a thing for red-haired Scottsmen there for a while after reading them.
You’ve got FRemail.
Nearly perfect weather, in my opinion... it's partly cloudy and about 62. Not hot, not cold, just real nice.
The horses both felt good... Bay was good, Cyn was a little fresh, was doing a lot of fussing and head tossing... Bees and bugs were after her... ecurbh forgot to spray her.
The U turn bridge :~)
Nice woodsey parts :~)
At the falls... a firepit with some ~gasp~ paper in it. Nothing that should frighten a very old A-Rab horse right?
Here's another pic at the falls... I tried to toss things in the air to get their ears up for this pose.... I couldn't get Bay to do anything but stand there looking fairly perturbed, I think because Cyn is that close to him.
On the way home...
We did a lot of trotting on the way back... Bay had a second wind on the way home, as usual ;~)
