I enjoyed the videos:) I think you look very good.
Becky
Well, I was wrong, Julia wasn’t tranked up today:), but she did better then she ever has.
She showed up with her old horse (I’ve got a few pictures), The one she was scared to death of, but that I had never seen do anything. She got the horse out, saddled up and off we went with no comments about being nervous. About 30 minutes into the ride she said something like, “Wow, I just realized I didn’t get nervous this time....I was so worried about being late, and hurrying to get here, I never stopped and thought about all the stuff that could go wrong. I think I’m really bonding to this horse, I may just sell that little one:)”
What a loon:) I told her to remember this the next time she got nervous. We did cut the ride short, she was trying her horse barefoot and she thought he was really getting ouchy so we came back. She’s going to call the farrier when she gets home.
Grizzly came out of the woods with about the back half of a baby deer:(. I don’t think he killed it...I don’t think he could have gotten it torn in half that quick, but I don’t know. I never say any deers, so I’m not sure where it came from. Julia hollered at him so he dropped it and left it out on the trail. I bet it shows up in my yard before the end of the day.
Becky
Well... good for her! I guess! Just grin and bear it. :~D
Yikes on the deer butt. I bet you’re right.... he won’t forget where he left that.
The Dolly Parton reference was really funny too, and I can see where the coat hanger shoulders would be helpful with keeping good upper body posture. I’d not heard that one before. I find myself slumping and rounding my shoulders sometimes so I’ll have to keep that on in mind.
That sounds like good stuff. Bob's scar is always kinda scaly-looking, even 2yrs after the fact, so it may be something good to try for that. Did you order it from catalog or what?
That’s great about Julia! I’ve always thought that thinking negative thoughts about things would sabotage your results.
I don’t remember exactly how this came up, but just the other day I met a guy who used to shoe for me and he was telling me about his recent experience with positive visualization in his roping competitions. He said that every time he got in the chute, he just kept his mind focused on what he WANTED to have happen instead of worrying about all the things that he DIDN’T want to have happen and said that his scores had just gone through the roof. So I do believe that it’s possible for your subconscious to influence your body and how well it performs. Hopefully now that she’s experienced it, she’ll be able to keep herself focused away from the negatives from now on. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for her anyways.
Oh, and that’s nasty about the dead deer butt. Why do dogs DO that?! I’m sure it’ll wind up in your yard this afternoon too, and I’m also sure that Grizzly will probably roll in it. GAAAACK!
A few pictures from today's ride. I just thought this one was funny because of Harley's ears.
Julia.
Frog, about your story about the roper:), it made me think of the move "The Music Man" and his "think system":)...there is a lot of truth in that.
I am glad maybe she is starting to see that the problem was more her then the horses. She said that Major seemed calmer today then ever before and it's been since Dec. since she rode him. I told her I really think horses pick up on a nervous rider and that makes them more squirrely.
Becky
The trails look shady and cool ;~)
Had you just passed something that was making Harley squirrelly with his ears, or was he trying to get rid of a fly, or what? :~)
I do sympathize with Julia, I’ve been increasingly nervous tending to psyche myself out of things myself. It would be a relief, but not a victory, to just quit and take the safe route.
I don’t really know what the deal was with his ears, but I’d say it was flies. They are getting bad.
I think it’s old age, and knowing the consequences of a fall now, ...what use to take 3 days to recover from is now a 3+ week couch event.
Becky
Great pics! Julia does look relaxed.
Were you using your old camera? The reason I ask is there looks to be a blur or a smudge down the center of your pictures. I kept wanting to rub my eyes.
About the roper guy and the visualization stuff. He said he was a big fan of Bruce Lee and had been reading a lot about his life and philosophies and stuff and that’s where he got it from. I found it interesting either way.

I was using the new camera, and I noticed that blurry spot too. I checked the camera and it had a smudge on the lens, so I cleaned it and took a test picture and it looks fine now. Sorry about that.
Becky
I’ve never heard of Gebos so I don’t guess we have one. I’ll check with Tractor Supply to see if they have it. I also googled ScarSof-E, and you get some really strange stuff when you do that. ~:-|
Heh, I’m glad that’s all it was. I was beginning to worry about my eyes! ;o)
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about daisy's. Last year from seed I planted Shasta daisy's and African daisy's. I could swear I planted all Shasta daisy's around my fountain, and put the african ones someplace else and then pulled them out because I got them mixed up with the wild flowers.
Anyway, I have two clumps by the fountain, that started out looking the same but has changed, and one now has flower buds now and one doesn't. I'm wondering if anyone can tell if one bunch is shasta, and the other african. In this pictures I think the ones at the lower left are definitely shasta, but the one towards the right of the picture, doesn't look the same at all, but I just don't remember planting different one's there, so I'm not sure what they are. Are the shastas, that just look different? I'm not real happy with the bigger clump, they've gotten so big, you can't see the fountain from the patio, but if they are a daisy's I'll leave them then transplant it in the fall.
My house with the yard mowed nice:) You can barely see, but the morning glories are at the top of the arbor.
And a picture from the road looking up my driveway. I think this part of the drive is nice, and old country road looking.
Becky
Nice pictures!
I don’t have pictures (I looked) of the Shasta Daisies at the beach house, but they’re monstrous... they’re 3-4 feet tall when they bloom.
I think the ones that are blooming already are a dwarf variety, the others are going to be the monster kind.
Your yard and drive does look pretty.
We’re about to run to town... out of squirrel food, and need some dirt and flowers for a new planter we just made from one of the wooden mangers we took out of the stall... I think it’s going to look nice, pics when we get back.
Well, OK, I wonder if dwarf seeds could have been mixed in regular? I bought them on line.
Anyway, so if I transplant the big clump, will they still come back, when do you do that??
