We went out with white electric tape and some posts to make a little 'no walk' zone around that bird nest, and it was empty! :~o. I don't know if the parents can move the eggs (??), maybe because I upset her the other day, or if they got eaten by something. :~(
So while we were out there... Cyn wanted to check out what we had in our hands... I'm rubbing the tape on her face...
And then let her bite it.
I missed the funnier picture... she grabbed a loop and started backing up with it in her mouth, like a tug of war but it just kept uncoiling... :~)
Hey y’all! Long time no see and I’ve really missed talking to y’all. Like Hair said, I’ve been having a really hard time with my Mom here lately but hopefully she’s settling into the routine at the assisted living and I’ll have a little less to worry about now. I’ve been catching up on the thread most of the morning and it takes a while to read through 2 or 3 weeks of posts, but I enjoyed every minute of it, especially the pictures. It’s nice to know that life goes on, even when your own is at a temporary stand still. Thanks for thinking about me!
Becky, about the sponge and string, do NOT get in the creek next to him. He could drown you if he spooks and gets on you. Find a shallower spot where you know the bottom and do it there while mounted. Ride him in, drop the sponge, reel it up, then ride out and pet him. Then do it over again. Take it with you every time you go out and just practice, even if you aren’t in the water. Twirl it over your head, throw it over a branch, just anything to get him used to it flying around. He won’t even think twice about it before long.
~waves~ Hi there... glad you checked in :~)
Yeah, me too. It’s a sign that things are finally settling down a bit. Hopefully I’m back to being a regular here again.
I loved your last ride pics and I’m glad to hear that the NB shoes are working out for Bay. I think you’re right that he’s got lots of years and miles left in him yet. That pic of him charging across the pasture away from the scary white tape makes him look like a 5yr old.
OK, I won’t get in with him:), didn’t really want to anyway. Thanks for caring:)
I didn’t go to the creek today, just don’t have my mind right yet for it. I did get off him at a stream that was running across a trail, and threw it in and drug it out towards him...he seems to be accepting it better and better. I’m just a bit of a wuss when I don’t know what to expect:). He seemed to get a little comfortable with it till I got on and I hadn’t reeled it up all the way...I did make him stand till I got it wound up and hooked back on my saddle, he was very leery of steeping in to the water, it was like he was looking for that scary sponge...
Becky
That is beautiful!
Rhodies are supposed to be native here, we all have them in our yards, but I’ve never actually seen them in the wild.
Well... my horse is caught and bathed... we may get out the door for a ride yet :~)
I’ll be hoping you do! I’m fixing to head out here and run some errands and stop by to see Mom on the way home. Talk to y’all tomorrow...
Hey Frog, good to hear from you. It is so difficult to have to deal with aged parents. When we moved my Dad back from Florida and put him in assisted living, he was not happy at all. After a time he seemed to get used to it and we took him out a good bit, but it is not at all like being in your own home. I wish you the best of luck with her.
I had an early doctor's appt this morning and didn't have time to ping everyone. Then I ran around paying bills, came home and fired up the weed eater and tiller and did some yard work. The farrier was here this morning also and I had shoes put on Bodie's fronts. He sure doesn't like to extend his legs out on the stand for filing or picking up his feet. I about break my back when I clean them.
Riding PJ in Western Horsemanship. She won a second.
First in English Showmanship.
Western Showmanship, she won second in that class. She placed in all her classes, so that was wonderful.
Wow!!! That’s great. Congratulations Alison:)
I love all her little outfits, so pretty.
Becky
looking forward to them:’)
I can't easily log on and post at work anymore either :( - funny how they expect me to earn my pay isn't it?
Also got the garden in, fenced and a shade put on the dogs kennels. I've been reading here and owe a lot of posts - especially thanks for pictures, thoughts on horrid neighbors, etc. etc. I promise I'll catch up.
She is too cute to be real. She’s like a picture out of a magazine ad :~)
Don’t worry, even if you don’t catch up, there won’t be a test. :~) Thanks all for checking in :~)
We’re back from our trail ride... pics in a few...
