...The ledge doesn’t have to have that big hole in front of it, for example.

Yeah, they were doomed from this point on...

I'll bet the horse nearly landed on it's belly on that first level and that's what threw the rider up onto it's neck and it went down hill from there.

Took off too early.

But even though it's not really the hole that got them in trouble in this case (unless the hole intimidated the horse into taking off early) I look at the hole and think it's only purpose is to make injuries worse if they do wreck there. The horse would take off ahead of it anyway, even if it wasn't there.

Take a look at this one, for example... (not from the same event, found it in google). The horse should never be there unless they wreck, and if they do wreck, it only makes the wreck more likely to really hurt somebody.

I just really think the course designers have gone overboard to make them hard. Eventing should be difficult, but it doesn't have to be intentionally dangerous.

Yeah, those holes under the jumps are really unnecessary, but I think you may be right that they put them there for the intimidation factor. They would scare the heck outta me!

Scares me to just look at it. I prefer my horses to remain earthbound.

Speaking of horses remaining earthbound, or not, as I was leaving the barn yesterday evening, all of mine took off on a running spree. I don’t know what triggered it, but I had to stop the car in the middle of the driveway and just watch them. They were ripping around pretty good and just doing your standard bucking and farting, but all of a sudden, little Miss Ellie does this four-footed leap into the air with a full body twist that was just incredible. I’ll bet she went straight up at least 3 feet, maybe more. I just had to shake my head and feel sorry for Troy when he gets her to break. If she decides to buck I think he’ll be in for a pretty interesting ride. ;o)

She asked to be deleted. Apparently she’s got a complicated situation with an ex she still lives with, and she said some things she shouldn’t that he found out about.... and rather than go back and edit her posts, she had them nuke everything.

I guess she’s moving down with Walkin Fool soon.

Like my pony. That pony can buck and twist. That's the good thing about Cyn... when she tries to buck and keep up, she just can't get it all together for a really good buck. I've seen her put all effort into it, and she just can't get it off the ground. Bonus, as far as my honey is concerned.

LOL couldn’t keep her big mouth shut, huh? I don’t know why people feel the need to spill their guts on the world wide web for anyone and everyone to see. And she’s given so much personal information about herself that anonymity is completely lost. Heck, she’s even posted nearly nude pics of herself, making it easy to identify her without ever seeing her face, due to all the tattoos.

Yeah - I never saw that... but I have cautioned other people about the dangers of badmouthing people on the internet. I’ve been bit by that one myself. I try not to say anything about people that I wouldn’t want them to read, because sometimes they do.

True enough. I have to watch what I say because my husband and children also use the internet. My kids computers have filters on them but I don’t think FR is blocked.

There have been times my kids or husband have made me mad and I wanted to come on here and vent but no way will I do that.

I wouldn’t want to vent about my hubby either... I’d have to ping him ;~)

I was thinking this same thing before I got to this part of your post. I would love to watch him get on her the first time!

And she may not buck at all. Truly didn’t when I broke her. Ellie is really a lovebug and an absolute pocket pony, but if he gets her into a sticky spot and goes after her with the spurs you never know what might happen. Bob never bucked a lick when he was being broke and Hope didn’t either, but Grace gave him a run for his money and I wouldn’t have figured that from her. So you just never know what a horse is gonna do sometimes.

Yes, they are an item. Here's a charming pic of Epona:

No I guess you don't. I was always afraid to use spurs on Blade cause I used them on Queen once and boy was that a mistake! Now I know that is the only way to go with Blade. He was so lazy in Talladega a few weekends ago and I forgot to put the spurs on. Even when Jake was way out of site he would not get out of a walk.

You know... especially given the recent talk about how small the internet can be... I’d really rather not be associated with badmouthing of her here... I don’t want to have to get in between people there or here if it gets discovered. I’ve been nothing but friendly with both her and Walkin.
