As long as the tail swishing was from excess energy...it was pretty, wasn’t it?:’)

I guess I’ve been schooled to much to view tail swishing as a problem to think of it as pretty.

How do you know though? I guess I need to watch that end more. Usually when I check it out, she has balked. I look first and she better be taking care of business.

What kind of a problem or are you meaning tail wringing? A definite way for a horse to show displeasure or pain. The tail turns in a rapid motion and the horse is very reluctant to do whatever the rider wants of him. Many game horses that young riders "spur and jerk", wring their tails.

And BTW, the commentator also mentioned at the end of the clip, that the mare was 9.

That mare is definitely the exception to the rule. Usually the horses that you see competing at that level are well into their teens. She's really a remarkable horse.

I have been enlisted to haul Charlie the Alpaca to the spring fair in a couple weeks. I know next to nothing about hauling alpacas, but Kay says they're easy to load :~)

Good luck! Is he going to stay at the fair, or are you going to have to haul him back and forth?

I don’t know...I said that several times, it could have just been the horse, no problem, it could have been what Hair said. IMO, no one knows.

Tail swishing, ringing...I’ve always considered that if the horse is doing that, they are not happy about something, or extremely pissed off. Unless of course there are flies:).

Last winter, one of the times I was riding Harley, he was suddenly swishing his tail, even Celia noticed and commented something is wrong. After a few moments he suddenly went to jumping sidewise and being a real jerk...I think I told you all about it. It was the next day that the soreness in his shoulder showed up. Now did one have anything to do with the other, I don’t know for sure, but I think so.

A swish now and then doesn’t mean anything, IMO, but a consistent swish does. May be just me tho.

What is the lastest on V Tech? There are over 3000 posts and it’s testy at the end with not much info.

...this friend has a buckskin mare he wants to breed to a buckskin stud...my question...you really shouldn’t breed buckskin to buckskin, right? Don’t you run the risk of getting an albino?

I don't know a whole lot about color genetics, other than the little bit I've picked up about grays and roans because of personal preference for those colors, but I'll bet Duchess knows. She seems to be our resident color geneticist.

Good Morning.

Prayers for the families and students at VA Tech. Very sad and horrible.

Indeed. Can’t imagine it.

Good morning.

90% chance of rain today here. I don’t think the trails will every dry.

One of our new renters at our building is having a grand opening of her office today...Mack wants me to come to it. So that’s my agenda for the day.

We’re having rain and maybe thunderstorms... our trails may never dry out either ;~)

Our trailer might get done today... and we need to go get a check from the neighbor and pick it up. That’s on our agenda for today.

Hey, did I mention that at the end of this month I have tickets to a Clinton Anderson Clinic? Getting close enough now that I’m getting excited.

I bought the tickets before Christmas. I clicked on his site just to see what the cost of the clinics were and if any was going to be around here. I found out there was going to be one in April in Claremore, which is just about an hours drive from here, AND that if I bought a ticket before Dec. 31 I got another free:). And I didn’t think the price of his tickets were all that bad to begin with...$25 for two all day clinic. So Celia and I will be going. Anyway, looking forward to it now.
