I thought it had stopped here earlier, but we just got another downpour, so I guess not. I was wanting to ride tomorrow, but I’m gonna wimp out if it’s still raining. I’m just glad it finally rained. I got house work that needs doing anyways. The dust bunnies are getting bigger than the cats around here!
Oh, just a side note about the big freeze we got around here. I was talking to one of the guys who leases part of our farm and he said that all of his wheat got ruined. It was just at the stage where it had put out heads but hadn’t pollinated yet and all that got frozen. The plants themselves are still ok but it won’t make anything, so they were going to cut it for hay. That’s great for cows, but bad for horses. But the good thing about it was that he was going to keep the wheat hay for his cows and have enough to be able to sell his orchard grass hay, which WILL be good for horses. So I guess it all works out in the end.
Will you guys go out and ride together after she schools Dot, or will you be looking after the grandkids? :-)
Oliver sounds like a gem! I’m glad you both found each other, even if he’s not yours. It’s a beautiful thing when you get that connection with a horse, or any animal. It warms your soul.
On man, that's got to be a huge pain! I don't blame you a bit for wishing them a little ill-will. We have something similar here (though not as big I'm sure) when the Trail of Tears motorcycle ride comes through our town in September. Try to visualize over 100,000 motorcycles driving by, and you can't cross the road, for like HOURS. It's fun to watch, but if you have to get anywhere that crosses the route you can just forget it.
He sounds like he’s really enjoying himself, and I’m glad you enjoy working with him. That’s a benefit for both of you and isn’t that common.
Well, I’d love to stay and chat some more, but my hubby had to work today and he just called to say he’s on his way home so I guess I’d better be thinking about something for supper. Talk to y’all later!
First, this t-shirt for ecurbh.... not sure where he's going to wear this :~)
Though ecurbh is modeling all these presents, they are for ~both~ of us :~)
A chainsaw! No more trying to cut up downed trees with our sawsall ;~)
Next, we got this nifty Marlin 30-30 from Ramius....
We've never owned a rifle before... also were given a scabbard ecurbh can hang from his saddle (I don't think my English saddle is well suited for that)
Very cool presents and definately somethings you needed :) Hope you all had a great time.
Definitely needed :~)
My old boss, a shrink, used to say that passive aggressive people drove him nuts because “you can’t make them mad”, but that he liked watching us work, because we have learned to be “master communicators and peace makers”. He would have been shocked to see the fit I threw at Walmart tonight!
A chain saw! About time:’)
Wow, cool presents!! The chainsaw will really come in handy, but I think your Dad may have had an ulterior motive for giving it to Ecurbh, judging from the size of that woodpile behind them. I can just hear him now, “Here’s a chainsaw for your birthday Son. Oh, and by the way, we’ll need 5 ricks of wood for the winter.”
The t-shirt and rifle are really great too. The rifle is for when somebody makes a smart-@$$ remark about the t-shirt. ;o)
LOL:)...but having a rifle with you while wearing that t-shirt is passive-aggressive isn't it?:) Great gifts, I've always wanted a chain saw, but Mack won't let me have one. He thinks I'd hurt myself, or there would be no trees left on our property:)...I get carried away sometimes.
Good morning. Our weather here today is going to be great, but I probably won't ride, babysitting today, and probably too muddy anyway, to go on too many of the trails:(.
When Jenny comes tomorrow, I'll watch Tucker...Dot isn't shod right now anyway, and has always been tender footed like her daddy, so she wouldn't do good on trails anyway. Jenny is going to set an appointment tomorrow with my farrier to get her shod.
Beaker...well at least Oliver is available for you, and if the owner won't sell, he will always be, so that's good. Maybe not the same as owning your own, but still good.
Becky
Yes you can....when I was a kid I got great comfort pretending my bike was a horse:)
Becky
Good morning everyone! It looks like another beautiful day here... and it wasn’t supposed to be :~)
