The first set of pictures will probably be a little dark, because I won’t shoot down to the barn till after work on Monday. (I want to take the day off and go get him with my trainer. Wonder if I can call in sick! LOL!) Probably won’t be able to get any GOOD pictures until next weekend.

Morning yall. It’s a cold wet day in South Texas today. Our AC went out last week. Who would have expected we would be in the 40’s in April. Hopefully we will have heat in about 4 hours. I was sniffing and sneezing before this even rolled in. I offered to take my DIL and the babies to a hotel room but they said they would be ok.

You can’t call in sick but I can’t see why you can’t take a family leave of absence to be with your new baby:’)

Yeah. I wonder if it was heater related. That’s what happened at our zoo, during a cold spell a few years ago. Kind of choked me up about the firefighters adopting the dogs though.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter :) It was a beautiful day here but I don't remember ever having an Easter that wasn't nice.

I talked to the breeder today that has Friday and BamBam. Boy is she having a time. Friday was bred to the black, by AI and a day late so hopefully she will take - they had problems teaching the black what he was supposed to do. BamBam will be bred to the buckskin this coming week. That surprised me, I thought they were going to breed her to the black also. She's had three more foals born, the last a dun colt with a loud blanket. However, somehow his tongue was injured at birth and he can't nurse. She's up feeding him every two hours, the vet did put a stomach tube in to feed him shortly after birth so he's gotten plenty of colostrum. Hopefully, he'll switch over to milk replacer this coming week.

I also talked to the trainer that has Tuffy. She said he's pretty *busy*, calling to other horses and kicking and rearing in his stall. However, she said he was a great mover and a very kind horse (?) She is hoping to get on him next week, this week will be spent driving with long reins. She has been working him every day and he's gotten two baths. She is thinking that perhaps his food is too hot and that's where all the energy is coming from but she doesn't want him to lose any weight - he needs to stay at halter weight. Basically, it remains to be seen if he will chill out and calm down enough to be a western pleasure horse. (I learned a lot in this conversation) Anyway, she said he's got good, very strong legs and will have no problem with a proper lope. He behaves well with a firm hand, enjoys the attention, just needs to learn it's work (life's work) and not play. He does not exhibit any aggresive stallion behavior.

We are hoping to go out next week-end to see the mares and give them their shots, and then the following week-end to see Tuffy. We had that planned for next week-end also but her daughters are trying out for the Reno Rodeo Flag Team so she won't be home.

Sounds like good news, if they all take, and Tuffy can go to work :~)

Why are they AIing if the mare is right there?

Good morning.... blustery windy day here... hopefully not too windy.

Well, I have Bad News.

The horse's (his name is Karaugh)owner backed out of the deal yesterday morning. The barn he's at right now offered a price for him, and she took that instead. I'm feeling rather bitter, and Very Disappointed right now. This was a great horse, I was very excited about him.

No more looking at horses for a while for me, I think. I have to get over this one.

Good morning.

We did have a nice day yesterday. It was very busy. We did take a walk down to the caves, Blake and Travis had never been there, then we walked down and looked at the sunken boat again. Some trees from the bank have fell on top of it since we were down there just a few weeks ago.

I did lose some of my garden:(, some marigolds, some impatients, all the morning glories, and the iris blooms have all withered up, but they were about done anyway. What I find amazing and have never seen before, at least to this degree, is even all the older full grown trees, the new leaves are all shriveled up and turning black, my red bud tree in the garden:(...I’m guessing they will just start growing new foliage back from the beginning?

We are suppose to start warming up some today, but there is rain in the forecast.

Interesting:)

So what precentage of protein is Tuffy getting...is there any other type of feed you could give him that might keep weight on him, but not hype him up? Maybe working more will help. Does he get much turnout?

Jeepers... sorry about your late blast of winter... I hope we’re having the last of ours today... not freezing, but chilly, and winds expected, gusts to 30. Hopefully we can handle that without a mess.

Did you take pics yesterday?

I'm trying not to over react, but if she had said right off, "I'm sorry, I've changed my mind" instead of having us arrange to pick him up and then call the next day and say "Sorry, I sold him to someone else...it's not negotiable."...

She said that she wanted to keep him there where she could keep an eye on him, and I understand, but if she wanted to see him, she could have WALKED to our barn, or cut through the woods.
Something smells fishy, because to begin with, that barn just changed hands and the owner of the barn is sick with some major illness, and there were almost no horses there. The place was dead.
She had made a HUGE fuss over how she needed to get rid of the horse, he wasn't doing anything, she hadn't ridden him in a year, blah blah. She was very positive when we were trying him out, but now I'm starting to wonder, Did she not like the way that I rode him/handled him? It's just weird.
