I saved this one til last. Despite the smudge it is still one of my favorites. It was actually dark out side and another train was coming. Some passengers say they don't like a train horn. I find it soothing. They were both blowing. Kind of like they were calling to each other. Like horses do. Night.

Duchess, I've read about people trying that scam but have never actually seen it. What luck that you were alerted to it!

That's gotta feel creepy seeing your horse on a website that you had nothing to do with, under a different name and owner.

cindy, I'm really enjoying your pictures. Do you have more? What is the Texas ghost town you went through, the one with the active Baptist church?

Good Morning.

Cindydawg, thanks for the pictures. What a nice interesting trip you had. A train trip would be a lot of fun, despite the cramped conditions. Lots of Country to see out there.

We are going to pick up Bodie today. You all have a great weekend.

I can believe people would do something like this. What I can't believe is that someone would have bought a horse the way described, or that anyone would buy a horse site unseen from a stranger.. Gelding/color, 600 dollar show horse/1200 pd?

My school starts back next week so things should be settling down. I'm going to take a couple of day and tour that area.

Enjoying the pictures from the train trip! The part with the bedroom would be cool, but the part on the way back where you had to sit facing the other passengers, well, that would get a little old.

We had an exciting night here. Had an armed robbery at the store next door, everyone fine, crooks got no money, already been arrested. All of this in the middle of a wind storm, we bugged out around midnight to sit in the truck for awhile. We lost the woodpecker tree in the wind last night Becky.

Heh - yeah - the funny thing about the whole thing is how badly worded the ad is, with obvious contradictions, and how underpriced he is! If you're gonna sell a fake horse, at least make some real money on it.

I'm going to see if I can find the name of the town. I love researching Texas ghost towns.

I think the town was Langtry.

JUDGE ROY BEAN VISITOR CENTER | Back to top

Be sure to stop at the Judge Roy Bean Visitor Center operated by the Division of Travel Information, Texas Department of Transportation at Langtry. This informative stop is located just off U.S. Hwy. 90, 1/2 miles South on Loop 25 between Sanderson and Del Rio. Certified, professional travel counselors serve as goodwill ambassadors as well as information specialists on destinations in Texas 8-5 year-round, except Easter, Thanksgiving, December 24, 25, and New Years Day.

All this in addition to answering the toll free travel information services line 1- 800-452-9292 .

The Judge is gone, but his saloon, “The Jersey Lilly,” and his home “The Opera House, Town Hall and Seat of Justice” are still there. Free parking, free maps and travel literature, rest rooms and water fountains are available and it is all ADA accessible. A well marked desert garden with approximately 100 species of cacti, trees, shrubs and other plants provides a welcome respite as well as a noted birding area. Don’t miss the welcome oasis in the eastern edge of the Big Bend Country.

No - all's quiet now. It might pick up again tonight, they say, but at the moment it's rather nice out.

The yard is covered with branches again. This has really been a crappy winter for wind. I fear by spring my trees are just going to be naked straight trunks, if they're still standing :~\
