The golden years may be happier for the computer savvy, says a new study that shows senior citizens who use a computer have fewer signs of depression than those who don't.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that in 2001, about 22 percent of Americans 65 and older used a computer either at work or in the home. And as these rates will certainly increase as the computer-literate population ages, it is important to understand how being "connected" will impact the elderly. This study, presented at the annual convention of the American Psychological Association, is the first insight into the psychological effects of computer use on seniors.

"Given the social and informational nature of older adults' computer practices—e-mail, chat rooms and health information gathering, for example—it seems likely that this could be beneficial to an individual's overall mental health," said Kathleen Triche, director of community social services at Village Care senior centers in New York during the presentation.

Good morning everyone!

Iceberg

This photo was sent by the administrator of the Global Marine Drilling petroliferous platform, that is located in St.Johns, Newfoundland.

They are in charge of changing the course of icebergs, by towing, to avoid them hitting the platforms.

In this case, the sea was calm, the crystalline water and the sun affected the iceberg almost directly, so that a diver could take this wonderful photo.

They considered the weight of this iceberg to be about 300 million tons. Things like this make us understand why a photo is worth than thousand words…
