Yeah...sometimes I get it right. Hey, I heard on one of your posts that you taught Art. Is that right?

I used to love to paint, but of course I sucked at it..lol.

An artist for many years, taking a workshop once a week with my mentor, the mentor passed away suddenly, leaving me and a dozen artists at a loss. Some of them got together and volunteered me to do it and here I am four years later, still steaching one night a week.

One thing a teacher learns is not to listen to their students' opinions of their own work - we are our own worst critics.

Believe what people tell you about your work.

Get yourself a gun and if you "get like that", shoot the people who offend you, NOT YOURSELF! You want to go out fighting dirty, dig?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid into heaven sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly shot and used up, totally worn out and defiantly shouting "WOOOOOOOO! what a ride.

Oh I never took any lessons. I just flubbed and learned from "Bob" on TV.

I had a blast tho. I did oils and loved doing it, but after we retired and moved I never had a well venitated room to paint in anymore.

I was just larnin to do flowers when I had to stop. I would love to take it up again. Maybe if I can get the garage cleaned up I could..;)

That's a lot to ask tho....sighhhhhhhhhh

I love Vermont. Too bad they all went nuts up there. Al came from the border right next to Vermont. He's a real S--t-kicker..lol.

He grew up right next door to Santa's Village. I'm sure you must know that place.

Switch to Acrylic paints. No ventilation needed, soap and water cleanup, and most of the paints are so non-toxic they're edible.

When I began painting back in the Industrial Age, I soon found a strong intolerate to being near turps and quickly had to switch to acrylics. I prefer them now and, trust me, more and more artists are discovering what a lifetime of living next to turps can do, the more switch over.

And if you get really daring, you can use acrylics as water colors.

Where aren't they going nuts?!!

Sure I remember Santa's Village!! I wonder if it's still there.

We just bought a camper and are looking forward ro re-exploring parts of New England in it - and, of course much further.

Yes..I did do some acrylic work, but I missed the smooooching of the oils.

It's an entirely new way to paint and I never really got into it. I should take lessons in my retirement, but I have so much I do now..can I fit any more in????

You would cry if you could see the new tubes of paint that have gone old on me. What a sin..

Watercolor is theeee hardest to get the hang of. I love it, but it doesn't love me. My friend here that just died was a terrific watercolor artist. She also had a kiln and made her own hand-painted tiles. She did take lessons for years tho.

Oh it's still there, and makes improvements every year just like always.

It's a nice place and so clean too.

We'll be going up there this summer in the woods almost right across from the Village. We're having the big family reunion there at the Community Campgrounds. Everybody from across the country come for it every few years. Well..the ones that haven't died off in the meantime anyway. ;)

There are usually new ones that replace the old and we cook out and drink and play games and have a great time. I'm sure I'll be taking pics again and so will my kids.
