GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala - A 330-foot-deep sinkhole killed at least two teenagers as it swallowed about a dozen homes early Friday and forced the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people in a crowded Guatemala City neighborhood. Officials blamed the sinkhole on recent rains and an underground sewage flow from a ruptured main. The pit emitted foul odors, loud noises and tremors, shaking the surrounding ground. A rush of water could be heard from its depths, and authorities feared it could widen or others could open up. Rescue operations were on hold until a firefighter, suspended from a cable, could take video and photos above the hole and officials could use the documentation to decide how to proceed. The dead were identified as Irma and David Soyos, emergency spokesman Juan Carlos Bolanos said. Their bodies were found near the sinkhole, floating in a river of sewage. Their father, Domingo, was still missing, according to disaster coordinator Hugo Hernandez.

Resty,
A few years back sony sold a video camera that had an infra-red mode. You could punch a button and see just the IR image around you. When people realized what it did, Sony pulled it from the market.
It is very easy, technically.

Oh well, he was warnedSomehow, getting a warning from a short rodent wandering around in the drizzle doesn't do it for me..........
*Singing*
Put another log on the driveway.
Don't she plow the snow off every night?
Put another log on the driveway.
Rodent's gonna gnaw that wood tonight......

That is appalling! I'm afraid our "free" country is nothing but history. The "leadership" has lost all sense of heritage, values, respect, decorum and even human decency. On the other hand, the people continue to sit back and take it. We've gotten too soft and we're paying for it. Way too many people don't even realize it.

That's a Cenote, Resty.
I've swam in many of those. In fact some of them have tunnels under the Cenote and you swim to other cenotes and can go long distances under the ground. They are a wonderful treat, as the water is sparkling clear and crisp and even tinkles from the tiny bubbles in them. It's one of the best pleasures you can have in the Yucatan besides the beaches.
I've never been to one like that tho with that many steps going down. Some I've been in do have ladders you have to go down and some are almost ground level or with caves you have to go into first. They are all a blast. One time we trekked thru the jungle for almost a mile to get to one, and we couldn't get into it for the ladders were way to rickety to trust. A long hot dangerous, (we found out later) walk for nothing.

Was it Shuffling the Manflattens, shuffling four decks of new cards, or......something more sinister, like hiding Ace's and Wild cards in his shorts to win at all costs? You decide?

That is truly frightening. I've never seen one that big and in the middle of a city like that.
Ohhh man..I wonder how deep it is, does it say?
I have to vacate the puter soon for the grandson. Right now he's checking out the local fishing pier to see if he wants to go there fishing or not.
