"Include the Laffer curve!"

NnB: Yes, yes! The Laffer curve! And static versus dynamic analysis! Oh, ... my mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening thru a cosmic vapor of invention.

Taggart: Ditto.

Hedley Lamarr: "Ditto"? "Ditto," you provincial putz?

Oops. Wrong channel.

Ah yes, the Laffer Curve. Limited by line asymptotic humor line on one side and death on the other.

...I come by from time to time to see just how bored everybody is.

If you'd come by more often, we wouldn't be so bored! Howdy, stranger!

You're up early!

I need to come up with something for supper and also run today. 60's and slightly drizzly.

What Happened?
At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Accounts Receivable Tax
Building Permit Tax
CDL license Tax
Cigarette Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Dog License Tax
Federal Income Tax
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
Fishing License Tax
Food License Tax,
Fuel permit tax
Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon)
Hunting License Tax
Inheritance Tax
Interest expense
Inventory tax
IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax)
Liquor Tax
Luxury Taxes
Marriage License Tax
Medicare Tax
Property Tax
Real Estate Tax
Service charge taxes
Social Security Tax
Road usage taxes
Sales Tax
Recreational Vehicle Tax
School Tax
State Income Tax
State Unemployment Tax (SUTA)
Telephone federal excise tax
Telephone federal universal service fee tax
Telephone federal, state and local surcharge taxes
Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax
Telephone recurring and non-recurring charges tax
Telephone state and local tax
Telephone usage charge tax
Utility Taxes
Vehicle License Registration Tax
Vehicle Sales Tax
Watercraft registration Tax
Well Permit Tax
Workers Compensation Tax

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class
in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened?
And I still have to "press 1" for English
I hope this goes around world 10 times

To be fair, some of those are "fees" which are intended at least partly to cover the cost of a service.

However, then the question is whether the government should be involved in whatever the function is.

Actually, it's worse. Some are taxes on fees. Fees I can handle, as long as they go to the states purpose. Our gas taxes, here in Texas, were supposed to go to pay for roads. Turns out, it went in the general fund instead.

Now, we are being saddled with toll roads on top of all the other taxes. After the fact, they tell us part of the toll money will go... you guessed it, into the general fund.

Any wonder I'm moving back to MN?

(Editor's note:This was originally posted on 27NOV05. The links have been broken, so a repost is needed to see it.) (Editor's 2nd note: This is the 2nd attempt. The first ended just before "post" when a UPS interupted during a 15 sec outage.)

All right, I've hinted at this all week. So, we had 120ft of 1 1/2" PVC, 20ft of metal conduit, and about 60 fitting of various types. What're we to do?

How about, build a bed for Spiderboy!

Most of the cutting is done, and the frame is dry fitted.

What a mess.

Inspector Bittygirl is on the job.

Spiderboy admires our work.

Finally assembly begins.

Spiderboy makes the inaugural ladder climb.

Hey, I can touch the ceiling! Dad thinks, "hmmm".

"My God, It's full of stars!", or something like that.

Spiderboy installs the Milky Way under the bed.

Let me just test this thing out here.

Ready to snore. Note Lego Spidey hanging from the ceiling.

Neat-o! The red and green boards are just painted plywood sheets?

Where did you get the plans? We'll be needing a bed for Vlad, eventually; the four brothers are already in bunks.

Yes. The horizontal sheets are 3/4" ply. The vertical pieces are 3/8", and used for shear (is structural terms) to keep the frame from wobbling.

The plan came from a book of kids bedroom ideas. Durn book is MIA in my study.
